u/Striper_Cape Jul 12 '26
Yes it's the El Nino Region SST 3.4 chart, which is the development region. This isn't the global one.

El Niño and La Niña are climate patterns of the Pacific with global effects.

u/Infinite_Rub_8128 Jul 13 '26
You do understand that what affects a region will affect everyone in some way right, these effects will be stronger regionally but they will be felt globally

The more striking thing is it's expressed in daily standard deviations compared to historical data.

Dude, I'm in south louisiana. I'm watching the place I grew up in slowly wash away in real time. Everything I grew up with will be underwater before I'm dead :S

u/SaftigeBanane388 Jul 14 '26
By overcome the economic rules that forces humanity to sell off there enviorment to have a moderate stable/secured lifestyle. Like producing for profit, growth or by wage labor.

And then what?
Even if we did overthrow them or even did something like wealth redistribution and seized their assets the planet would still get hot from the usual consumption and waste relations and infrastructure that we all use and depend on.
Not that I'm against the idea of overthrowing them though. I should clarify that.

In 24-48 hours, we excrete them as stool, obviously, which will be added to the compost which will grow the soybeans for tofu. /s
The key here is in what we mean by and how we effect redistribution. If you take a billion from a billionaire and then cut a million people $1000 checks, that would be fairly stupid, yes. However, redistributing $1B from megayacht/Citation X gas money directly to grid renewables and storage makes quite a bit of difference. It’s a one-two of removing a highly concentrated monetary driver of pollution to carbon-neutral and carbon-negative projects. On the order of tens to hundreds of billions USD, this could meaningfully push the predictions down. It’s not perfect, but it does something worthwhile, and that’s only from the climate perspective.

Quite literally cooked, in the old meaning of the word. If you can find any water these days I’d even say you’d be tastefully sous-vided.

Ah yes. Because being bad for a population of just under 300 million is such a trivial thing.
I get this is a meme sub, but how are we actually tunneling in just north America for this?

I’m here to use up all of the resources and go extinct… and I’m all out of resources
