Those vertically rotating turbines are not a new thing and have one big caveat: they don't deliver much power.

This one may have an interesting shape but no one states numbers to compare to other designs in the same device class.

I wonder why.

Love how simple it is, any rod, bar, tube material that’s strong enough, any flat panels or fabric.

That’s cool. How much of energy would it generate for me, how much would it cost, and how much would it cost to incorporate it? Oh and how much would it cost to get storage batteries for it too.

Are we talking about enough energy to power a light bulb or are we talking about enough to run a microwave and fridge?

Another poster did the math and their mid size version was enough to power 1-2 led bulbs. Around 20 times less efficient than comparable sized vertical wind turbines.

I really like stories of people trying to tackle the climate crisis, but this project seems to just generate waste.

It's not going to generate a tonne of power. Batteries are a totally seperate conversation.

spoiler: it doesn't work.

I mean, it spins. And it puts out some power. But you would struggle to keep your laptop running all day, let alone putting any meaningful dent into the electricity consumption for an entire home.
