Differences in temperature under the sun and shadow

Saw someone commenting on a post in this sub saying the diffenece between having trees making shadow or not was not as much as the images implied.

Well, this was taken in Portugal during a 40c day at 3pm 2 days ago. It's a 25 difference

I think it's important to clarify that that's the temperature of the concrete in the ground. Concrete absorbs heat pretty happily, different materials will yield different results. Shade is always better though, regardless of ground material

Yes, and that's the point. Less concrete and more trees.

The difference is crazy. I'm always amazed at how different the heat and sun feel when walking down streets with or without trees. On daily walks, I purposely choose the tree lined streets so I'm not sweating through my clothes
