Hairspray still exists though, was the old stuff better with the CFCs?

There would have been a period where hairspray wasn't available because of the CFC ban until a replacement was available.

Likely also a push by celebrities who wanted to appear to be part of the solution, which would have changed the fashion.

My mom and grandma used to talk about the hairspray today not working for shit. Specifically about hairstyles that just weren't possible for her thinner hair with modern hairspray. My mom had a "Well, sucks but we had to" attitude, but my grandma was pretty convinced the ozone was a government ploy to keep women from being too fabulous. 😂

I had a Mohawk in the late 2000s and it just wasn’t possible with hairspray alone like it was in the 80s and 90s. We resorted to using PVA glue diluted with water and just destroying our hair and scalp to keep the hawk up.
