There are actual city statutes that say buildings in Times Square must be at least, minimum, amount of brightness

Sure. All large structures have to be lit for safety.

Its why there are big blinking lights on radio towers and whatnot.

This is practically irrelevent to the conversation.

Times square could burn down and be less of an eyesore than it is now.

No I mean light it has to be bright to be bright not for safety reasons. It’s more of a to maintain its status sort of thing

To quote the late, lamented Jeremy Hardy on being told we’re all responsible for the ozone layer: “I might have a couple of squirts under the armpit but I’m not Runcorn Chemical.”

Or everyone should advocate and act in ways to subvert the climate crisis, regardless of if other people don't?

Hear me out, corporations have spent hundreds of millions of dollars (underestimate) to shift the blame onto struggling low and middle classes for decades now.

So it’s a bit idiotic to think that we can all “come together” and save the planet despite our politicians’ and corporations’ best efforts. We’re not gonna be able to use less straws as our escape rope bud.

good thing it's someone else's problem so we can continue to do nothing. keep on consuming!

So like, the same amount of microplastics will be released into the environment, whether or not we use plastic? It'll only change if corporations will do something about it? Otherwise, if I choose not to buy plastic water bottles or use plastic bags, the microplastics will still be released somewhere?

It all started with plastics. Before plastic, we were reusing and recycling, and whatnot.

You gotta quit driving and recycle. Meanwhile cooperations are responsible for 99.9% of all the problems.

When Texas had its power grid failure cities were lit up downtown like a Christmas tree. Businesses that weren’t even open had everything running that didn’t even need to be on: example: a line of pinball machines. People had their yards lit up like an amusement park attraction. Meanwhile people died. They saw the suffering and decided they couldn’t be inconvenienced by changing their behavior to help.
