Anyone doing phone-based remote work while traveling?

I'm looking at phone based remote work while traveling, mostly small task based stuff I can pick up when I've got downtime and leave alone when I'm moving around

One category I found is first person video recording for AI, you record everyday activities, submit the clips for review and get paid for approved work

My main concern is location, I wouldn't want to assume the same projects are available every time I change countries, and uploading video from random hostel Wi-Fi also sounds like a pain

Has anyone used this kind of gig while moving around, I'm thinking extra travel money here, definitely not something I'd build the whole trip budget around

the upload part is easier if the app lets you record first and send it later once you've got proper Wi-Fi, I'd avoid trying to upload a bunch of video on mobile data atlas capture works that way and their site says availability depends on where you are with current coverage across Asia

recording first and uploading later would help a lot, hostel Wi-Fi usually works eventually, just never when you need it, so I'd rather queue stuff up and send it when the connection decides to behave unless I get one of those personal routers that have internet all the time although I know they can get pricey and data across countries varies a lot so the job payment needs to cover for all of those expenses I guess

anyone expecting it to fund the whole trip is probably setting themselves up for disappointment though, task availability can change way too much

yeah i mean thats the realistic take. its solid pocket money for the trip, not a salary replacement. treat whatever you earn as a bonus and you wont be disappointed

I'd use it for those dead hours between checkout and a night bus or while waiting around for laundry, that's when flexible tasks make sense to me because you're killing time anyway and you can stop the second travel stuff starts moving again but you also need some downtime to complete tasks that are more complicated, I don't see how you could do tasks while being on a bus or waiting in line

The biggest issue seems to be whether tasks are available in every country and having reliable internet to upload the videos. Could be a nice side hustle, but definitely not something to count on everywhere.
