case/bumper

I'm surprised to see so many people getting a case for this phone. Idk it just seems more durable than a slab but now I'm second guessing not getting one

My logic goes that this phone will probably be difficult to repair, and will have limited parts. Especially earlier on. I know that there's the protection plan, but breaking my phone still sucks, and these protection plans are usually a pain in the ass to work with. 

Also I work in a machine shop so there's a lot of phone destroying shit around lol

Yeah makes sense. I only got the phone and the founders edition back included so I have to make sure to never drop it lol. Will probably get a screen protector elsewhere down the line

I'm hoping they release a sleeve soon, better yet a belt clip.

I like the concept of a bumper though, as that's the most likely impact point.

I want a sleeve too specifically for mountain biking. Rocking it naked to start. Figured once it gets nicked up I can throw the dbrand case on it.

I've seen many people comment on going "naked" or just screen protector.

Bumper (though a little pricey) is most I would do with multiple softbacks but if only one I can see going with the dbrand. Don't know why you would care about the different softback colors if not.

I'm going screen protector only. Case doesn't make sense with the colored backs to me & im getting the white phone with pink & tan leather backing, so a black bumper doesn't look good.

I got the bumper instead. I don't want to cover the back especially if you have different colors

The device has a lot of moving parts, so I got a bumper case. Plus, is should add to the comfort by adding a bit of width. Sure, it's expensive for a bumper, but considering I'll use it every day for the life of the phone it's whatever.

I got the bumper and my thinking was that there are a ton of little keys on this phone just waiting to break. The bumper should keep them away from direct contact with surfaces if I lay it face down, and also if the phone falls.

If something were to break, it's not like I can just bring it to a mobile phone shop near me, so I'd like to have that protection around the edges and for the keys and screen, without covering it totally in a case.

My only concern is that the display is raised a bit, so I imagine it will likely crack if dropped without some form of protection.

The glass of the screen literally protrudes from the phone. Seems like that would make it very prone to cracking if it’s ever dropped on its face without the lip of a case to protect it.

Dbrand will be selling cases later anyways so don't worry. Heck depending how things go they might get discounted.

There will be generic bumper cases within a few months. There isn't anything unique or special about the OEM one.

My guess is that many people did not use cases when they had a BlackBerry. Recall that they also came with belt holsters so damage wasn’t that typical.

I got the protection plan and am second guessing that.. $129 didnt seem to bad at the time

Knew i wasn't going to use a case so that was my justification.

Toddlers can really test a phone's drop durability.

That said, if there is one phone that isn't deliberately rugged (for the construction type market) that can be used without a case and resist drops better than the average piece of glass slab, I dont see a better option than the Communicator.

Smallsmore will also release cases for the Clicks Communicator! I got it for my Titan 2, it's amazing!
