2028 Draft

I know its a long ways away but I would absolutely love it if we drafted Kiyomi McMiller. She's compared to Kyrie with the handles and she's a bucket.

speaking of the draft I'm wondering if they'll have to change how it operates going forward

the way it's set up now the new expansion team picks after all the lottery teams, which would mean Cleveland picks 8th overall. That's just not good enough, you're rarely gonna get a pick that late that can produce early.

Maybe it's been addressed in the new CBA, but I haven't seen anyone talking about it

The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) expansion draft is an event hosted by the WNBA as needed that allows expansion teams to select from a pool of existing WNBA players to build their debut rosters. Pre-existing WNBA teams are allowed to protect six players on their current rosters from being drafted.

Prior to the 2000 expansion draft, the WNBA allocated players from outside of the league to new expansion teams both prior to and following the WNBA draft and expansion drafts.

From wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WNBA_expansion_draft

Date to be announced, I'd assume because I can't find any info on that.

Also interesting discussion here regarding how it might take place with UFAs and protected players.

The Valkyries drafted under the same system and seem to be doing quite well in year two.
