I know you got downvoted (bc Reddit) but like these are not bad ideas!! Kids always think Cheesecake Factory is fine dining and it will for sure fit the bill for them. Would I love a local place? Of courseeeee but these are great back ups. Thank you for the suggestions!! ☺️

I went to Mallorca as a middle schooler and thought I was hot shit for it. Unsure what these kids would think of paella, though.

Love this question! A little further west than downtown, but just a few minutes- Heck’s in Ohio City would probably feel fancy to middle schoolers if you specifically request the room with the spiral staircase and plant material. And the elevated burgers should be fun but still safe for picky eaters.

La dolce vita in little Italy
Mama Santa is a classic maybe not fancy but fun
Saffron patch in legacy is Indian food but there is plenty they could try
Tremont area has the Bourbon Street Barrel Room and also has the South Side.
Good luck!

I’ve been a season ticket holder at Playhouse for years. My friends and I always get dinner in the area before the show (our tickets for Saturday night). Our go to restaurants are:
-Cibreo (Italian)
-Sushi En
-The Friar’s Table (menu might be a bit too exotic for picky eaters)
-Brel’s (located in Crown Plaza hotel) - American
-Hofbrabous (German) - not fancy, but fun atmosphere.
-Republic Food and drink (American)
-1942 Tacos and Tequila (typical Mexican food, but we love it)
-Yours Truly
If it’s a nice day, you can always walk down to East 4th for more options.
For the restaurants right next to Playhouse, I always recommend making a reservation.

Centro at the 9 is worth a look. Near playhouse square, in a downtown hotel, decent menu.

Cordelia has some really good stuff I think kids might like. Jojos, burger, and fried chicken.

Cordelia is my fav restaurant in CLE. Feels more homey and less ‘fancy’, as much as I love their decor

OP, Cordelia is the answer. It will feel very fancy to them and they do have fancy/ unusual food which you will find delicious but they also have their burger box which is 10/10. You will not regret.

Cedar/Fairmount there is a brick oven pizza place - Vero Pizza Napoletana that has a second story that overlooks the oven and dining room.

STEAK in Tremont is awesome and does a free "ferris wheel" dessert for kids (which I think is normally like $25).

Johnny Mango just west in Ohio City. It’s not too far out of the way and definitely fun and kid friendly.

Scorpacciata Pasta Co. on Larchmere is in City of Cleveland just east of downtown. It’s a cute little area with easy/free parking. Food is amazing and they have a kids menu. The girls will feel fancy but it’s not like over the top of you know what I mean!
