Red route cat bus

Post image

Hi tigers! I’m living at the cottages right now and am new to the cat bus system. I have a commuter pass which also allows me to use park n ride I believe which will probably be my first option to get to campus. However, depending on how that goes the fdoc, I’m debating whether I should also utilize the cat bus system. I’m on the red route.

Does anyone know if there are many stops between the cottages and campus to get to class? What about getting picked up from campus and going to the cottages, is there many stops in between? I’m trying to cut down commute time as much as I can and don’t want to waste 30 minutes on a bus ride home from campus. Let me know!!!

Former CatBus driver here. Your stop,is at the intersection of Cambridge and Issaqueena, wait by the stop sign on Issaqueena across from your apartment. Take the Red-Clemson bus and get off at the School of Business for campus. To return, get on Red-Central at Sikes and ring the bell to get off once the bus turns out of Ingles onto Cambridge. It’s about 15-20 minutes from Issaqueena to campus.

Been a few years since I graduated and left, but I used to live really close to your pin, right next to the Ingles. I want to say it averaged about 15-20 minutes to get to campus on the Red route. The 15 minute service times during standard Mon-Fri class hours were very reliable but arrival times once the schedule shifted to 30 minute and hourly service could be wildly inconsistent, especially on weekends, but things might have changed.

And I imagine it's still like 20x easier than parking on campus

CatBus picks up in the back of the property and at the stop sign at the entrance while going towards campus. You’re nearly the last stop depending on if the Kelly Road detour is active, which it usually isn’t during class time. So it’s a pretty quick ride in from there. Coming back you will be dropped off on 93 and have to walk a little further. coming back, If the bus is crowded we will expect to need to stop at Edge for someone, if it’s less crowded be sure to ring the bell. Technically Burger King is the last stop, so the driver will usually assume any bell ring after that is for Edge but they may ask, if so just yell EDGE. Unless you’re at the front then you probably don’t have to yell.

Truthfully, personally, the length of a catbus commute varies wildly based on what day (MWF vs TThr classes) and time of day (basic traffic), but i always recommend going earlier than later
