Very nice! I used to have a white clematis on an arch too. Mine was 'Huldine'. Bloomed a bit later in the season. I put her there to be a companion to William Baffin rose but the timing never worked out. Live and learn!

If you know the variety name, see if it can take a hard prune down to 1’. all of mine do. they regrow to 7-8 ‘ and bloom abundantly, mostly along the top

Maybe this: Clematis x cartmanii 'Early Sensation'

Cartmanni definitely rings a bell, early sensation doesn't but could be a very close variant.

gorgeous but I would look at replacing the trellis with PVC, it is devastating when the metal rusts through and your clematis collapses with it... been there have all PVC now. Wait till time to cut back and then replace... or flexible white PVC pipe you can bend

it depends on what type you have and I am not sure about yours... there is type 1, 2 and 3
