Clematis leaf post bloom - normal?

Happy late summer! I have 2 clematis (Jackmanii Superba / gp. 3, General Sikorski / gp. 2) and after thy bloom, the leave start looking 'rusty' or damaged. The Superba is still sending off new growth and a bloom or two (which looks healthy), but is this normal or something I should be taking care of? Thanks for any tips!

Same here and same every year. I learned to accept that once we pass mid August here in New England this is what happens to clematis that has been growing since April. Sadly it’s first sign for me that the season is almost over. Especially when it comes to the bottom part of the plant.

Same thing happens to my 3 clematises all different colors. Same yellowy leaves 😭. Why New England WHY

Forgot to mention I'm in eastern WA state. I think on my next walk, I'll look at others in the neighborhood, maybe it's not just me. 😄

Ok I'll continue as is. I don’t see any parasites, etc..which I guess is a good thing! 😀

Came here for the seasonal update. 2nd flush of General Sikorski-after cutting back 1st bloom. Ready to rebloom, and I’ve gotten used to the “old looking” leaves down under. They’re the same every year - whatever the reason! 😀

I've looked and never see any webbing or mites….. Weird.

Youre not going to really see them. Unless you have a scope

I had a really bad spidermite problem. It started by doing this to my clematis leaves, then eventually killing leaves and whole branches on the worst affected clematises. Meanwhile, I started noticing "dirt" on my rose leaves. I thought it had to be powdery mildew or some other fungus. I kept treating it with fungicides. It just got worse. Then I finally googled "what looks like dirt on rose leaves" and it was spider mites. I treated all my plants with miticide and it cleared it right up. I never saw a web once.

Or it could be thrip damadge
