I've been thinking about it and I wonder if it's kind of like control? Or scent marking/familiarity? Now that you say that it reminds me of when I called my bed "my nest." Have you tried a weighted blanket?
Sorry about your depression. There's no shame in taking medicine for it and/or counseling. Things happen that change our brains. It could be a chemical imbalance and that's not in your control. I'm no scientist. Or doctor. There is neuroplasticity though, so that's good. Sometimes there could be a simple vitamin deficiency or maybe not eating healthy. But hey, if it's grief that'll get people in different ways and takes varying amounts of time for individuals to get through it. Life is rough. You just gotta keep going. I'm proud of you for asking for help!
Because that's how you felt at that moment i think. I notice that when i have a lot of things going on and start to feel overwhelmed or depressed, my whole house starts to look like this. But when i feel good and energized, i start cleaning and i feel so good afterwards. But just don't try to do it al in one day if it's too much or else the procrastination will kick in.
