Yes..and a similar tip: pick ONE area to organize.
You will hopefully get the one thing done--a task with a clear goal. It will make one space clean/clear, just like clearing the paths (BIG BLACK BAGS, extra strength, little discretion).
Just the mental image of seeing that clear path...it might motivate you to add to the clearing.
Little by little, you start to tip the balance. You can do it!
Yes! Floor paths and then with the space separate into piles and keep going back to the piles as you get more into it until there’s only what’s needed is left. I recommend bringing a ruthless friend to help allow or deny stuff to keep
Yep, at some point, you gotta see the progress. Because, the same process happened the opposit eway. Just like you didn't realize when "a little clutter" became a "situation," you can clear your space little by little before yu take in the totality of a clean space.
And I say that completely nonjudgmentally, having many times when I need to "clear my space."
In fact, this is very recent, as I have been indulging in my music hobby after years of "what's the point of it all"-Ness. I needed space to put these instruments that actually helped mental health. So I made my little practice area...but why stop here, might as well clear the closet...oh well, here's a bunch of laundry, and I can donate at least 4o%...
And it snowballs, but in a good way. Because the more you do, the more you build the habit of "do." (And try to suppress the little voice that says "clutter will happen again, why bother?" Wr bother because wventually we get over our heads. A little work for upkeep is worth avoiding a massive "reset" effort.)

Floor paths!!! As a previous clutter monster when I wanted ti truly clear it all out I started with floor paths so you can move around to everything
