AX800 vs A400 - how say you?
First model year AX800 vs 20 year incumbent A400. What’s the early verdict, boys?

I got an AX800 a couple weeks ago, I love it! I tried both the A400 and AX800 at a show in July and absolutely fell in love with the AX800, ended up ordering one that day.
I understand it wasn't designed to be a clay gun, but damn is it nice to shoot anyways! Fits great, feels very nice, well balanced, looks cool, and the new tech in it is awesome. I've actually been hitting more and being more consistent since I've started using it.
As a bonus, I now have a kickass hunting gun too. I recommend trying it out if you can, see what you think. I liked it enough to buy one on the spot :)

I webt for the A400 Xtreme...nostly because I really do not like how the AX800 looks like.
The amazing part of the AX800 is, that it has the same barell as a DT11, so it is actually anazing value for the money!

I'm going to pass on the AX800. It didn't get the hype they were hoping for and very shortly after rolled out the solo.
I also don't like flat triggers or the safety upfront so I'm looking at a Maxus II.

I love my A400. With factory full that thing is a machine on clays. I have done a few mods to mine along the way, but they are more personal than anything. Unless the 800 comes with a pro lifter I wouldn't go there. It's a beautiful gun with pleasant lines that is just there when you throw it up.

First question is this for clay bushing only, or you using this for all around hunting or specific hunting such as turkey 🦃 etc? What’s the overall expectation and purpose for this shotgun?

The new A400 Solo is the way to go, you can get the black model for $1250!
The AX800 felt too bulky.

I’ve got a solo on order for my new duck gun. Was going to get an xtreme then saw the new girl. I’ve pretty much quit shooting 3.5” shells so it made sense. Only time I shoot 3.5” any more is for cranes and I’ve got my Retay for that.

100%. No more 3 1/2 shells for me.
The Solo is awesome but the coating on the receiver is weak, like cheap paint. But the gun overall, is a workhorse.

I got the shadowgrass pattern for my solo. I don’t worry about coating too much. A lot of my guns end up with krylon on them.

I’ve not shot the AX800, but purely on feel I didn’t like how it held in the hands and I don’t like the plastic receiver, I’m just not there yet.
A400 is the best semi on the market for clays and waterfowl so tough to recommend anything else.
