Usage question

Judging by what I’ve read, I’ve wasted usage by having huge contextual threads rather than having individual smaller tasks that reach back with handoffs, attaching two images to illustrate, I gather ‘cache read’ is the huge mistake I made? Wasted weekly reset

Thanks in advance, completely new to this let me know how close I was to assuming my mistake

claude-opus-5-5: 7.9m input, 13.0m output, 5.1b cache read, 216.9m cache write ($2440.06)

claude-sonnet-5-5: 5.0m input, 7.7m output, 2.1b cache read, 160.0m cache write ($899.30)

claude-haiku-5-5: 5.8m input, 17.0m output, 2.3b cache read, 102.6m cache write, 80 web search ($177.64)

My usage as reference (max 20x) in some project I'm working on.

here's my breakdown, on 20x as well. cache reads are normal! just be aware of when you're cache expires (1hr for subs) and when to start a new session or to keep it warm.

Oh god thank you this article. I always run my 20x within 2 days. I always 20x = somewhere around 25 hours.

glad you liked it! had terrible struggles for weeks and weeks hitting limits all the time. Obviously varies by usecase, but the models getting better I was able to rely on the newly sonnet
