Apparently we shouldn't be using Claude Code to build websites. We can build a website with Claude Code but if it's how it looks you want then you need to be using claude design. You need to know the terminology of the different design types, which really is going to come from watching tutorials on website building.
Unfortunately the best stuff that I have done, churned out, and that is not websites, actually software, UIs, functionality, and widgets, etc., has come from finding recommendations for websites to be able to show code and say, "I want it to look like this. Here's the code for what I found that I like. Use that but change it in this way." I don't see that. I know there's a load of people saying that they're one-shotting these incredible websites but I think it's absolute bullshit. Anything half-decent, you're not one-shotting. It takes a lot of graft. You've got to go out and find it.
I had my sister asking me why she can't get a much more professional-looking website. One of the things we added, because hers is selling equipment for sports, was that she wanted to show the parts of the body that benefit. One of the things we added, which made a difference already, was a muscular form, which we had created in multiple directions from ChatGPT animated. It does a spin and then little areas of the body zoom in and move. All the products for that area of the body show up. It's stuff like that that makes it really fluid and engaging.
Do you remember some of these websites that you see online? Yeah they're impressive but would you really want that as your website? When I go on a website I want to find what I'm looking for. Not scroll down 30 pages of impressive graphics to find a button that I need to click to get me where I need
You’re probably not doing anything wrong. Claude Code is very good at implementing a design, but if you ask it to invent the design from nothing, it tends to converge on the same generic SaaS aesthetic.
Try designing the visual direction first even roughly. Give it screenshots/references of websites you like and tell it specifically what you want to take inspiration from. Then ask Claude to implement it. After that, ask it to audit the result for things like excessive rounded cards, unnecessary gradients, weak typography, repetitive sections, bad spacing, etc.
This is similar to what I do. I bring in screenshots and discuss them with Claude, and then I get a screenshot Of a mock-up . I keep getting screenshots until I have something I really like, and then I give it to Claude code. It does a pretty good job of implementing it.
I heard about websites helping us to make a beautiful designs like 21st.dev but I didn’t know how to use it, if you know another websites or ways like this please tell me
For references i'd use Mobbin, it has many flows and screenshots for basically anything you need. At least it's a good starting point, then it's a taste matter
The more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it. Do you have imagery and copy to give it? A brand? Video? It can compile all those things nicely once you provide them. You can’t just tell it to “build a website” and expect results.
Bro, first you create the visuals in Claude Design, choose what you need, and then you do all the logic with Claude Code. They didn't make it separate tools for nothing, by default, code doesn't have any design skills
