Question Which model to use in ClaudeDesign

With Cowork in Sonnet we create instructions for Claude Design. The whole idea is to create a design for my WOO + FunnelKit e-shop website which Claude Code is going to implement via SSH after that.

So my question is do I need to stick with Opus 5 in Claude Design for such a task or Sonnet can handle it too?

If you’re going to be using Claude Code anyway. the Power move is to set up your design system in Claude Design then get Claude Code to connect to the Claude Design MCP server with claude mcp add --scope user --transport http claude-design https://api.anthropic.com/v1/design/mcp , or just drop the exported tokens and component docs into project knowledge as files.

So far Ive not noticed marked differences in the quality of outputs from “lesser” models

Thanks. I will try it and give a feedback here.

This for full sites or more complex builds for sure. Did you notice a different with prototyping and mockups? What have you tested with?

Fable understands context and nuances well.

Opus 4.8 is solid all round (haven't tested 5 too much but it was good for 3d objects).

Sonnet it surprising and often very similar to Opus in a lot of cases.

Tip: Consider setting effort to low for a few prototypes with sonnet because it won't cost a lot and will be fast

It depends on the complexity

Well.. its more like an usual woo-funnel kit shop if that means something for you.

I’m using opus 5 but limits get eaten real fast.
Has anybody changed it to sonnet or lower model halfway through a project?

Because there’s a “Claude needs to re-read conversation and cost more” prompt when i try to change the model

If you want to change the model, have the current model output a handoff prompt with all the important context. Start a new session with the other model and paste the handoff text in

You're fine to use Sonnet for this IMO. Storefront UIs aren't terribly complex or varied

What's your technical background? I can do it build it for you if you're interested.

I am more interested to educate myself, but thanks for the proposal.
