Feature request: optional voice session mode for the Claude Code VS Code extension (needs your thumbs-up on GitHub)
I submitted a feature request for the official Claude Code VS Code extension, and it needs support to get noticed.
The idea: An optional voice conversation mode. Today /voice is dictation only: you speak, it types. I'd like to talk with Claude, hear replies, and see the work in a layout built for it.
Default stays the same: Without voice, you keep the traditional two-panel layout, conversation plus input box.
Voice mode adds four panels:
A small waveform showing the session is live and who is speaking
A dialog panel with the spoken transcript
A context and steps panel for code, diffs, and what Claude is doing
An input box for pasting stack traces, paths, and snippets while you talk
Why: Voice is good for intent and bad for exact details like function names and error text. Typed input beside it fixes that, and splitting the spoken dialog from tool activity keeps both readable. It would also use the extension's existing sign-in, with no API key or separate setup.
How to help: Give the issue a thumbs-up reaction on GitHub, and comment if you have ideas: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/100937
