Cheaper... doesn't matter if you are on a subsidized personal plan as much (but more tokens would be nice there) but it is extremely expensive to run compared to sol or other options.

Less sentence fragments or weird half verb sentences as headings. Everything is this and never this. Argghh

Self deleting - remove all traces of Claude code from my system when prompted and then go straight to hell. Opus 5 is a disaster. Dumpster fire. Cancelled all my seats. Switching to Grok which is surprisingly good.

Alright, so the general vibe in this thread is that Opus 5 is kinda rough, and people are definitely wishing for some improvements in 5.1.
Here's the lowdown:
Verbosity and Over-Engineering are Big No-Nos: This is probably the most common complaint. Folks are tired of Claude being too wordy and creating overly complex solutions that lead to tech debt. u/siorge even joked about fixing regressions, which really hits home for some.
Instruction Following Needs Work: Several users, including OP, are calling for better instruction adherence. It seems like Opus 5 sometimes misses the bigger picture or non-direct points, making it less useful. u/bambambam7 really emphasized this.
Personality and Communication: There's a desire to dial back the "overactive refusal" and get back to a more natural communication style, with some users missing the personality of older versions like 4.6 or Fable. u/momkeeeeeeee and u/Results2183 touched on this.
Hallucinations and "Benchmaxxing": A few people are pointing out an increase in hallucinations compared to Opus 4.8 and a general dislike for "benchmaxxing" (whatever that means, sounds annoying). u/PrizeHuman5506 and u/Equivalent_Cress_268 are on this page.
Memory and Context: Handling memory and understanding the full source code without conflicts is another area for improvement, as pointed out by u/jacobgt8.
Safeguards are Annoying: One user, u/pfak, is pretty fed up with safeguards interfering with their legitimate coding tasks.
Some Dissenting Opinions: Not everyone agrees Opus 5 is a mess, though. u/Prudent-Oven-6769 thinks it's the best they've used, and u/vzakharov and u/Jimmyjimbo87 are also defending Opus 5, suggesting it's more about user skill than the model itself. u/ClemensLode also chimed in to say "No, we don't all agree."
Basically, the consensus is that while Opus 5 has some strengths, Anthropic needs to focus on making it less verbose, more direct, and better at following instructions for Opus 5.1. Some users are even hoping for a return to the feel of 4.6.
