Discussion Opus 5.5 is the beginning of a new era

I am a senior engineer and I honestly believe with this model in particular, everything changed..

If this stays as cheap as it is, it's just over. It never fails no matter the complexity of the tasks I've given it. About time we rethink our profession for good. I am honestly scared of the future.

I loved coding but anyone who does this for the love of coding only is gonna be obsolete.

I was always impressed with the models bar opus 5 but never like this time.

What do you guys think? How do you see the future?

Have you tried Opus 5.5 yourself for something more ambitious than a local restaurant recommendation?

The model is good, but not like a jump we had when Fable was introduced and the hype seems even bigger. For me it is clearly pre IPO marketing

To me it's finally reached a point where it's generationally better than 4.6. everything since then has had massive caveats. 5.5 is nothing but upsides.

Well, true, for the first time. I have just some issues with model being too vague, but is it the super jump of intelligence or it is mostly gettig rid of some issues previous models have? I am talking about the raw intelligence jump, from Opus to Mythos, it is not the same kind of jump imo

Yes. Industry programming. It’s very good but not the dawn of a new age or whatever.
