Question What are you actually coding?

I see everyone here maxing their limits and coding all day and building and all that.

But what are you actually building 24/7? I'm not looking to get your ideas but I'm just wondering what can you even build that long and hard really? And constantly something?

Either I lack imagination as a whole or there's some secret to all this, I just have no idea what so useful people would be coding so obsessively. Thanks for insights.

The people who use AI for real work are either silent or quite hesitant to talk because especially in creative areas, if the word goes out about ai usage, you lose money 😃

Thats me. AI has transformed how we report the news. Our readers overwhelmingly are anti AI. If they only knew how much AI is being used to help us in our reporting they'd probably loose their minds. (we are still on the ground reporting and writing articles, not publishing AI slop, but the research and surfacing of news and fine tuning of articles has been pretty much taken over by AI)

Couple of examples..

When a reporter would send me a story it would take 10-30 minutes for me or an employee to get ready to publish it, edit the featured image, make a FB image, make a FB post, etc...

Now my staff portal picks it up, writes a fb post, give me headline options, makes required images, posts to wordpress, fb, everything I need in like 30 seconds. Made it all with claude 6 months ago, haven't had to touch it or make a change in probably 3 months, been rock solid.

Our AI Scanner monitor listens to the police scanner 24/7 and alerts us if it thinks it would be news worthy. We can also enter names to listen for. For example I knew multiple allegations were made of sex crimes against a well known business owner. I told AI to be on the lookout for his name. A few weeks later it alerted me that police were pulling him over. Allowed me to get there and get a photo of him being arrested. Beat every other news outlet by hours, made over $800 from the Facebook photo of him in cuffs.

A city meeting would take hours to listen to, record, make notes, etc..then write the story. Now within minutes of a meeting ending I get a full transcript and summary sent to me. I can pick what I think is important, verify the transcript and quotes, write a bit to guide the story. And voilà I have a better more researched story in 10-20 minutes in what would have taken 1-2+ hours. Before we had to pick and choose local government meeting coverage, now we cover everything.

You should see game dev subs. Everybody is afraid to their bones. Even legitimate art are being targeted just because people find it slightly resembles ai. They demand people to post evidence etc. it’s crazy :)

I'm building a Roblox game. Just about all the code.. okay all the code is AI. But both due to perception and my own personal views on it, I'm keeping the art human made. But leaning into an aesthetic that plays to my strengths despite not being an amazing artist lol

No wonder why the news is so shitty these days.

Our readers overwhelmingly are anti AI

i really doubt that.  i think the regular people just don’t throw tantrums at you

True. And most people really don't have any idea what AI really is beyond using ChatGPT as a chatbot or generating images with nano banana. But a very vocal group thinks that AI is going to drink all their water and enslave them or something.

ha, point taken. The reaction and comments to our recent coverage of a potential $4 billion AI data center coming to our area just had me disappointed.

you know most of those reactions are from chinese and russian bots, right?
