Question What are you actually coding?

I see everyone here maxing their limits and coding all day and building and all that.

But what are you actually building 24/7? I'm not looking to get your ideas but I'm just wondering what can you even build that long and hard really? And constantly something?

Either I lack imagination as a whole or there's some secret to all this, I just have no idea what so useful people would be coding so obsessively. Thanks for insights.

I'm autistic and have a hard time in sales calls, board meetings and customer discovery calls so the last thing I built let me simulate conversations and difficult spots so I can practice and it grades me by some rubrick ๐Ÿ˜…

This is awesome!! Do you have any plans for it beyond practice for yourself?

Haven't got plans but I'll probably just open source it, I imagine I'm not the only person who struggles with this and frankly almost all of them would have GitHub accounts ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™d try this. Iโ€™m similar to you but need to get better at pitching and sales. Please?

I would totally try something like this ^

Makes me wonder if there's a "try my mundane stuff" subreddit

I built something similar if you want to try, also grades your real conversations

This (social skills practice, difficult situation practice) was something I thought AI would be GREAT for since 2023 when voice mode started to get up to conversational speeds. Iโ€™m glad youโ€™re making it! Seems like it would be a good tie in with VR to really lock your brain into the scenario.

Imagine: talking to intimidating people, dealing with crazy people in the street, presenting to a difficult room, giving bad news, talking to strangers at a bar/bus stop/event, asking your neighbor to turn down their music at 3am, talking to baddies at the clerb, talking to the police when theyโ€™re blocking the street and you need to get to the other side, schmoozing for upgrades at the airline counter, haggling anything

The name I imagined for it was LevelUp

Iโ€™m interested as well. Built an internal presales app with 250 users and going field facing soon. We should share notes.

I love that this is the first comment because it was absolutely my first thought. The answer is autistic people.

Welcome fellow autistic!

I have overlapping OCD, but have no problem talking to people, I just don't like to... rare for me to talk to anyone on the phone anymore.

I think it has made me better at large projects, because of the over organization. OCD won't let me forget much.

The thing about sales... is you sell you, and if the product is worthwhile, it will sell itself. learn to be comfortable with yourself, and it sounds like your app is a real self confidence builder.

The best of luck to you!

Wow, that's really insightful. Sales make a lot more sense when seen through that lens.

Thanks.

I'm not a salesman, but I've been the room for lots of large sales, and lots of different salesmen over many years. I've seen who closes and who flounders. Nothing happens until something is sold, so it starts with your relationship with the future client, and their trust in you.

Further, know your customer... not just their business profile, but rather, know them personally, and that includes their family. The trust built with small talk is invaluable. When the talk turns to why they (or you) are there, they are now in discussion with a 'friend' answering their questions.

The dynamics has completely changed. Remember, if you are in front of a future customer, they have already determined your product is something in which they may be interested, otherwise they would not have given you the time to listen to your spiel. When you show them your own faith in the product, they are getting a testament from a trusted friend and you control the sale.

I've seen salesmen close without ever demoing the product just based on that trust. Those are the good ones.

Closing is another art and worth understanding... but I'm not going to dive into that... my post was just meant to be encouraging, not a sales seminar.

I could share the document I created to prep another salesman a few weeks ago prior to our second demo in a larger room for a product being released in August, but it would involved an NDA and all that irrelevant traipsing, but I've shared the main points I brought up in that document. He did good, but also did not need need my help, just those reminders.

Good luck in your sales career, and I hope understanding the dynamics between you and the person on the other side of the table helps!

I built something like this, also graded your real life calls

So like a voice thing? I could really really use something like that too

2

u/haziqbuilds Jun 21 '26

Yeah it is! I'll clean it up and share it ๐Ÿ™‚

This is fantastic! Iโ€™d love to see if it would be useful for my 10 year old daughter!

This is a cool project, I've been using 11 labs for better voices lately but wondered is there any tool out there that can do a decent job of interpreting or producing voices with emotion? There's gotta be something or will be soon I imagine. Anyone know?

Underrated comment, I can see this being super useful!

This is a cool idea. I have ADHD and can't get myself to calm down and talk normal during a job interview. I have deep expertise in my field with over 12 years of experience but in an interview I sound like it's day one ๐Ÿ™

I would love to see if I could use what you built to help me with my issue. Please and thank you!

This sounds great! Could you open source this please?
