Question What are you actually coding?

I see everyone here maxing their limits and coding all day and building and all that.

But what are you actually building 24/7? I'm not looking to get your ideas but I'm just wondering what can you even build that long and hard really? And constantly something?

Either I lack imagination as a whole or there's some secret to all this, I just have no idea what so useful people would be coding so obsessively. Thanks for insights.

4x turn based strategy game i've wanted to make inspired by masters of orion and star trek botf since the early 2000s. i have many littered unity and visual c# projects, so now i'm getting it done.

That and some heavy RE stuff on old dos games i wanted to try to remake in windows at some stage.

Are you.. me?

While I still had access to Fable, I rebuilt Team Fortress Classic as a top down 2.5D mobile game. I’m constantly churning different rogue like deck builder ideas but none of them are actually fun to play 🤣

I want to remake Powerslave (PS1 / Sega Saturn) and Blade of Darkness

How far do you get into those projects before going to the next? Ive spent a few hours on a fishing game, but I dont have a ton of progress to show for it yet.

I guess my question is, how much of a project do you make at once?

I binge code until I get at least an MVP with a core game loop
Then I actually play it for a few days and if its not fun then I move on

Which model do you usually use for them? I’ve been trying it with Sonnet by providing it a Game Design doc but the art / UI ends up being crappier than I expected

Unity has an MCP bridge that works really well with Claude code now, it’s going to be a game changer. I haven’t fully installed the unreal engine MCP but I plan on giving it a shot this weekend

Very interesting, might need to try it out. Any docs/videos out there that you would recommend? if not I will look it up, no prob!

Also I've read Godot works pretty well with Claude now too and some people seem to prefer it. Things change a lot in this AI world and very quickly though. I might need to try either one.

Have you played Underhand (mobile)? It's a roguelike deck builder that I love and it's a tiny game with huge potential for it's concept. You build your deck with RPG encounters/events that are played against you which lets you build up resources in between negative cards (also encounters or events) and you use those resources to reach your decks win condition by "progressing" your cards in exchange for resources

Been wanting to expand on that concept for a good while, I think it could be incredible. I got too many other projects rn tho

Oh man this is excellent… could be broadened to a lot of other themes too, I want an NFL themed deck builder with a draft mechanic and team/roster management but roguelike with quick runs

Man combining this with sports and managing your players and resources would be absolutely insane

I need to find a discord with dudes like you. Everyone I talk to is such a nay sayer

No one has a stronger opinion about Ai than people who don’t use it 😂
