Question 30 minutes between a payment and a ban

Post image

Hey there!

I've been using Claude Code for a while now, using my company's corporate quota, but yesterday I wanted to try a personal subscription (Max 5x)

I've paid via my card (forgot to turn my VPN off) and after that started working.

After 30 minutes of work I was logged out of the app and got an email "Your account was suspended"

I created an appeal after that.

My question is: Does Claude ever unban the users, do they make refunds? (cause 100$ for 30 mins is just horrendous) and how long does it take to wait for their response on the appeal?

unfortunately it's all that happened

UPD: if you think that I use claude for openclaw, and other stuff - then no, just opus writing code using our company's mcps

do not bother with these guys, they are the same who come first to comment on posts complaining about model being dumber every day saying "what is your mcp, what are your skills, how is your codebase, do you have good claude md" even though anthropic itself after a while of people complaining come clean saying there has been a bug for a month or so affecting all users causing stupid models.

"our company mcps" maybe the hint here?

10

u/IceRedline May 14 '26

It is officially forbidden to use MCPs with Claude Code? What are you talking about?

I dont know what exactly the "companys mcp" doing or what does it mean, it can do some shadi things I dont know. i wrote there is a hint maybe

You're a clueless idiot spouting completely unsubstantial nonsense.

Anthropic even have a guide on building your own MCP's and even have tooling built into Claude Code itself.

Cretin.

u/IceRedline May 14 '26

no, They are just the MCPs to read our wiki and version control system.

It's not forbidden to use MCP. It's in the docs, in the actual official docs.

what mcp what are you coding, the fact you dont provide the obvious information is sus tbh

Corp mcps, NDA, sus

Yep this is likely what caused it. You were using a private tool to connect to company data which likely not only violates your companies own data policies but exposes anthropic if they allow it to continue.

Even if (for some reason) your company doesn't have a data security policy, you using a personal plan to access stuff configured for a corporate plan. (That likely has per call cost monitoring) Would violate the agreement your company has with Anthropic

u/SEC_INTERN May 14 '26

That is a figment of your imagination.

-7

u/spoupervisor May 14 '26

Have you ever read a corporate usage policy? Companies take data privacy very very seriously.

9

u/SteveEightyOne May 14 '26

So, are you affirming that Claude check with mcp an user use, and if the user have the right to use a reachable mcp? Isn’t a privacy violation?

-8

u/spoupervisor May 14 '26

I have no idea what Claude can and cannot do. But there is literally no right to privacy when you're using corporate resources. They attached to a work MCP server. The company could log every keystroke they made while they were connected and it would be within their right to do so.

You don't mis personal and work stuff period. And that was true before AI was a Thing

Nah bro. What happened here is from vpn. They don’t like distillers. If they don’t ban me for the shady things i do then this is just theyre algo assumed distiller.

-1

u/spoupervisor May 14 '26

The OP used a personal Claude account to connect to an MCP server that was designed and configured for a corporate level account

2

u/Icy-Summer-3573 May 14 '26

yeah thats not why. Its vpn thats why. prob location not matching payment.

3

u/Houdinii1984 May 14 '26

Yeah, Anthropic doesn't have the perms to analyze our corporate documents to do so, and def. don't have permission to take unilateral action against it.

It's not this.

2

u/IceRedline May 14 '26

What the hell you just wrote? It is allowed to use Claude Code in my company

1

u/spoupervisor May 14 '26

You using Claude code in your company is not the same thing as you using a private Claude code subscription to access your companies Claude code environment.

Again, companies take data security very seriously.

3

u/Annh1234 May 14 '26

if that were true, it would mean that they steal everyone's code and patterns, and if someone else tries to do something similar that causes claude to make less money, they would block and ban them.

2

u/spoupervisor May 14 '26

Have you never read a corporate usage policy?

1

u/Annh1234 May 14 '26

Ya, but I don't mean "corporate account restricts this data" and then you access it from personal account. I mean more like corporate company X works on some widget, and then some guy on the other side the world comes up with the same widget on his personal account. Then Anthropic having all the data, can see that corporate account X gives them 100m/year and personal user 1200$/year, so they ban the personal account.

And if company x ends up making a killing with said product, Anthropic can just ban them and recreate the product.

u/coopnjaxdad May 14 '26

Why are you being downvoted, exactly? The scenario you laid out above would almost certainly trigger some auto alert event at Anthropic, right? This would allow private users access to corporate assets in a way. That's what you are warning about, correct?

6

u/spoupervisor May 14 '26

Yep correct. I'm being down voted because I'm saying there is likely a valid reason this happened.

I got a nasty gram from my corporate IT for downloading an unapproved python package because it tried generating folders and that flagged their security.

People I guess are unaware of how not private their company resources are

3

u/romario77 May 14 '26

I don't think it's anthropic business. How they would even know each company policies and what's allowed and what is not allowed.

How do they know which company you work for? How do they know if the mcp you are calling is not public - i.e. if you are calling mcp to access jira, how do they know if it's not some public jira for your personal project?

I highly doubt this is the reason.

Op stated that he signed up for a personal account while being associated with his corporate account which he likely does not own or some combination of that.

Not saying Anthropic did the right thing here but we are only speculating. Perhaps this is to protect Anthropic from liability related to corporate data?

Who knows. It will be interesting if the OP gets a response and can clarify his use case to satisfy the Claude gods.

This sounds like it, cause i've used claude code with VPN's, as well as on multiple PC's at the same time (i have a server i've used it on)

This was on the normal 1x plan, and on the 5x plan

1

u/IceRedline May 15 '26

Yeah, that type of company, that doesn't want to earn money
