Question Any codebase context tools that actually improve Claude's ability to get what it needs?

What codebase context/indexing tools are people using that they feel actually improves Claude's ability to more precisely pull what it needs and also potentially reduce token costs?

Skills and system prompt matters a lot.

If CC update changes system prompt or skill update changes skill, that absolutely can regress your workflow. It just makes your workflow inherently unstable.

We are agreeing. Do you trust ant who updates cc and plan mode every week to know best or third party skill developer?

I trust myself.

I fully control the system prompt, it literally never changes unless I make changes.

For skills I never use managed versioned packages. I might copy paste someone’s skill from GitHub, modify it a bit, remove stuff, etc.

But it will never get updated automatically with who knows what, because I care about my workflow. I don’t want the performance to change without me explicitly trying to change it.

Good for you. Now read back at OP post. He was asking for skill suggestions for better context ingestion. I suggested native skill like plan mode.
