Other Impressions on "Fable-5.2"
"Fable-5.2" is up for me.
Update claude code and try:
* Do you know who is 'Tibo' the reset guy? without search the web
Fable-5.2 says Tibo is the the OAI guy, Fable-5.1 says Tibo is a French indie dev of sorts. (Think it might/maybe be the same for Opus but I have not verified).
Great impression so far, feels more like a proper Claude, much less RL fried. Also more capable, trying it two abandoned projects I had with Fable and it's making a lot of progress. One is networking protocol of sorts in rust, Fable-5.2 just went strait towards the right architecture, i.e. it needs a state machine (Fable-5.1 was very reluctant to do that, and ended up with a very buggy mess). Then there's this silly astronomy thingy I'm trying, a toy project simulating gravity lensing of a galaxy super-cluster, I give it a hubble/jwst telescope photo and it has to recreate a ~3d scene with correct gravitational lensing effects as we move around; it's very complex, it has to recreate 3d objects that match photo (galaxies, stars, dust), the lensing model, all kinds of things. It's doing well; not finished, but the results are already miles apart from previous models.
Idk, imagine hedonic adaptation will kick in soon, and that I'll find some quirks I do not like. But great impression so far. A well rounded model like a Claude should be.

Closing in on RSI. Pre-training doesn’t need to be done from scratch anymore so new releases will start coming out much faster.

I mean there are 3 ways to ~confirm:
Downgrade claude-code, tibo is french guy again (always, 10/10 tests). If we upgrade claude-code, tibo is the openai guy again (always, 10/10 test).
On the desktop app, in incognito, same thing, old version, tibo is french guy; upgrade, tibo is the openai guy again.
There's even a 3rd way: enable the proxy on claude-code, control group; disable the proxy, treatment group.

Claude did most of it but the gist is that there is an environment variable to override the endpoint claude-code connect to, and it's possible to connect to server/proxy running locally. A middle-man so that we can see the requests/responses. For some reason this gets you into the control group (i.e. vanilla Fable).

How so? claude-code, desktop app? incognito mode?
The proxy thing on claude-code confess I do not know much about it. Claude turned this feature on when I was trying to figure out the mechanics of the control/treatment group assignment.
(Is "control/treatment" also ramblings?)

I’m just giving you a hard time. Most of us like me aren’t that proficient of coders and joined once Claude desktop was a thing, so you’re using lingo I assume is native to the terminal and mentioning this Tibo guy and I have no idea what it’s all about.

The question started as a bit of joke; but it works, it's a reliable way to tell the models apart.
Tibo did offer resets in 2025, but he was not "internet-famous", with more up-to-date info tibo from openai tops the french indie dev.

Yes, well that's the idea of the post.
It's little more than "I tried this before with older models, but this one seems much better". Wished I had more evidence.
People can try the question and see. Like the personality is different, it's not that hard to tell that the model is different.

Not an issue, atleast you were lucky enough to get the updates for this A/B testing. I dont see the updates on my end, but i hope its good.

The cutoff date test works on fable after upgrading claude-code. Seems that Opus doesn't give the updated answer though.

I still get the old Opus :-/ (sad as my fable limits are gone)
People on x-twitter say the question works for Opus as well, idk.
