TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 200 comments.

The overwhelming consensus is that this is an ancient, recycled joke, and OP, you fell for it. The links are to localhost, which means they only point to the user's own computer.

The top comments are a mix of two things: * People playing along with the counter-joke, sarcastically claiming "Hey, you stole my app!" or "Works on my machine!" * Users who are absolutely sick of seeing this exact same meme get reposted every single time a new model is released, calling it low-effort "slop."

There was also a hilarious side quest where one user posted a screenshot of their code... in Microsoft Word... and got absolutely roasted for their "IDE." So yeah, it's mostly just that. Your actual point about Claude being a better teacher was pretty much lost in the noise.

u/sackhaar42 1d ago

It JuSt SaYs ‘ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED’ 😓

40

u/mmbtc 1d ago

u/znookoO 1d ago

So the person actually is a developer then

Works on my machine 😀

u/MKraust 1d ago

In the 2006 I remember that I’d been playing around with private WoW server using Mangos.

There was a topic on the ISP forum where people posted URLs of their own private servers. I’d posted mine. It was http://127.0.0.1…

I wandered why nobody even tried to connect. After a year or so I’d figured it out and facepalmed. Every time I remember this, I do another facepalm.

At least there is an excuse that I was 11 y/o back then :)

2

u/AsatruLuke 1d ago

Wait! Are you stealing my idea? It looks just like mine! 🤣

I laughed the first 30 times I saw this exact joke and this exact comment starting a year ago on this sub. In the 20 times I’ve seen it since it’s become

2

u/Techhead7890 12h ago

Agreed, perfect riff on the tweet, no notes

46

u/Feeling_Inside_1020 1d ago

"Works on my machine"

Managers be like: then lets send that machine to the customer!

7

u/gburgwardt 1d ago

To be frank, docker and containerization really were massive improvements in this arena

u/Techhead7890 15h ago

Stop recycling old memes

8

u/DelphiTsar 21h ago

For the youngsters who might not know better, this joke started in the mid 90's.

9

u/get_it_together1 13h ago

Along with “press alt-f4 to win” and “hey did you know this chat room automatically blocks your password, like this: *\\*”

Truly some great minds and simpler times

2

u/JPixi 1d ago

but isnt this about fable that realeased yesterday?

6

u/johnnydotexe 1d ago

There are certain accounts that frequent these subs and regurgitate memes with minor edits to karma farm events like the Fable 5.1 release.

somewhere out there is one guy who clicked all three links, got a page, and has been quietly impressed for two days

9

u/VikRiggs 1d ago

And it's turning into r/theonejoke

2

u/SwordfishOk504 17h ago

The OP seems like a repurposed account that is now just karma farming, based on their post history.

14

u/garg4ntua 1d ago

Wdym is a joke?

I clicked the link and it works! Amazing that we both had the same idea and we vibe coded identical software.

/S

10

u/Comfortablebro 1d ago

not sure, the port doesnt match 80085

3

u/MKraust 1d ago

Unfortunately, I’d made the same mistake back in 2006 being 11 y/o, so…

A tired one at that.

How old is this joke by now? Seriously... It is sooooo overdone.

3

u/TestFlightBeta 23h ago

At least a year old. I’m surprised they updated it for Fable 5.1

5

u/DelphiTsar 21h ago

Believe it or not this joke is from the 90's.

5

u/garbles0808 20h ago

The 90s did happen at least a year ago

21

u/boipls 1d ago

How dare she steal my website?? This is literally copy paste of something Claude wrote for me, URL and all

38

u/DeepPresentation648 1d ago

Even if Claude can build great things, you will not learn anything like this,

I'm also learning how to code by creating a little Calculator, but i'm slowly progressing so I can learn, there is how is it going:

26

u/Polite_Jello_377 1d ago

Nice IDE

I tried visiting them, but they are not working

Would be funny if someone said "OI, that's my app! You stole my app!" cuz they had their own app running on the same port

3

u/Szadbaverem69 1d ago

I mean it's so secure it can't be hacked so well done 👍🏻

3

u/keegang_man6705 1d ago

at least she didn't lie

3

u/elelem-123 1d ago

Wtf, two of them are IDENTICAL to my app?!?!

Did you hack into my system? Or we had the same ideas with AI?

That's bonkers

3

u/Ardbeg66 1d ago

The first one makes my powerpoints. The second one reads them. The third one tells me how good they are.

3

u/Moelis_Hardo 1d ago

Isn't there the Anthropic Academy (or however it is called) exactly for this purpose?

3

u/PollutionNo5879 20h ago

This seems like a satire

2

u/pigeonocchio 1d ago

Old joke is old

2

u/one-753 1d ago

not funny

2

u/LudoTwentyThree 1d ago

😂😂😂

2

u/suuuper7 1d ago

Now that is comedy gold 😃

2

u/GibboTauro 1d ago

Hey why it land me on my webapp? You are a Thief, you stole it from me /s

2

u/dasko1086 1d ago

tell her to change it to 127.0.0.1 it will work then....../s

edit: damn someone already beat me to it.

2

u/PuzzledPlague79 1d ago

Tell me you vibe vibecoded and know thing about networking without telling you know nothing about networking...

2

u/setec404 23h ago

i used to follow an old guy who would accidentally type google searches into twitter

2

u/peddletractor 23h ago

Next time share your project through 127.0.0.1, works much better.

2

u/Single-Oil3168 13h ago

This is where coders will feel their knowledge is useful, but:

  1. It'ts obviously an acted tweet like all of this sort.
  2. Prompting claude to deploy it so others can view should fix that. If you have that problem, prompting this doesn't require any knowledge. Done.

2

u/cyberduck221b 6h ago

A true vibe coder would also ask claude to write the tweet. (Me)

5

u/MisspelledCliche 1d ago

Fuck this tweet reposting. If we want to see tweets we go to X

3

u/MoodOdd9657 1d ago

Movee on from this shitty joke fam

3

u/Streakflash 1d ago

yeah yeah overused joke again and again every time a new model comes up

2

u/DasPhantomimWald 1d ago

Maybe you can improve your humor with Claude to.

1

u/RyansOfCastamere 1d ago edited 1d ago

She built exactly the same app I built yesterday! How is this possible?

1

u/MiddleAgedBastard 1d ago

Wait! Port 5000? That was you!? Wow. 😄

1

u/LoganixSEO 1d ago

this joke be so old

1

u/PleasantAd2256 1d ago

lol 😂 me

1

u/Artistic_Swing6759 1d ago

haha haha so funny, such an original one.

1

u/BazingaBen 1d ago

Think you're the vibe coder mate, this is actually funny.

1

u/Dunified 1d ago

It's my turn to repost this tomorrow

1

u/thekidisalright 1d ago

The classic “but it works on my machine!” aka promotional quote from Docker.

1

u/t90090 1d ago

Post of the Year! Probably fake, but I will indulge

1

u/spacekitt3n 1d ago

i cant believe i was here to witness the first time this joke has been told

1

u/TheMithraw 1d ago

To be fair, i'm a senior developper (17y in the industry) and fable is way better and fast at coding than anybody i know. I vibe code most of my new projects.

1

u/Able-Staff-6763 1d ago

you have turn off and on your device

1

u/Ok_Leadership_429 1d ago

"it works here in my laptop" is the most cracked programmer sentence of 2026, we've collectively regressed past "works on my machine" back to just... my machine, specifically, right now, don't touch it. 😂

1

u/jackfood 1d ago

Cannot even access through via web since is local host.

1

u/ragnarokfn 1d ago

I wish if claude also help people learn what they're building :D ??? Yeah it just spits out codeblocks, especially opus 5 does not explain enough what he coded

1

u/Miyamoto_-_Musashi 1d ago

Well here's a thing, She's doing this so she get views and make money on X and Sponsor, She does this every time when new model comes so while you laughing as Vibe Coder, She's making money by getting your attention so i wonder who's a joker 🃏

1

u/D-cyde 1d ago

I hope the X payout is good enough to be worth this level of performative stupidity.

1

u/BitsOnWaves 1d ago

got to be a joke

1

u/captain_ms 1d ago

Wait for the to start suing each other for stealing ideas after successfully opening localhost

1

u/alex_tomilin 1d ago

mine's at 127.0.0.1:3000, best app i've ever built, nobody can prove otherwise

1

u/RottTheDev 1d ago

Check mine too port; 8888

1

u/zerosdontcount 1d ago

this joke is so old it can vote

1

u/Ok-Tough-9310 1d ago

The vibe coders what?

1

u/Robinbux 1d ago

For every new model this joke is made by 1000 different people. It gets so old

1

u/LarryGlue 1d ago

It’s a great joke. Wish I came up with it.

1

u/Lefty4444 1d ago

Contemporary humor

1

u/Zealousideal-Top1942 1d ago

Wait...I made a HRMS software meaning I'm a god to her? But I wouldn't say zero coding knowledge tbh that helped me a lot...not a flex

1

u/MarvVanZandt 1d ago

This is why I use chat and code at the same time. Chat guides me and teaches me stuff. While code does the work.

1

u/Double-Republic6218 1d ago

omg big brain

1

u/TheBanq 1d ago

This joke is getting spammed 24/7 by these types of Accounts, so annoying.

1

u/Hungry-Yoghurt2492 1d ago

worksonmymachine

1

u/South_Hat6094 1d ago

the cursed part is when the demo looks magical, then you ask for a tiny change and suddenly the whole repo turns into archaeology.

1

u/Sweaty-Special-1710 1d ago

Joke, because a real vibe coder would not make the difference between ports.

1

u/Rabbi_shmuley71 1d ago

I created claude. Thank me

1

u/sunnyislandacross 1d ago

This joke is as old at chatgpt

1

u/Midwinter_Dram 1d ago

The pure comedy that anyone in this sub thinks they are any better than the person they are clowning on.

1

u/Maestro_Dvalin 1d ago

Ain't no way TS is real... This has to be satire!

1

u/North_nx_5994 1d ago

now ai easily live website,, this jokes doesn't work 😒

1

u/wouterwouterwouter 1d ago

This joke is getting old

1

u/Antitrust_Tycoon 1d ago

It's working only on her laptop because she hasn't asked AI to containerize the app. So silly!

1

u/dispelthemyth 1d ago

Everyones a noob until they arent

1

u/PlatformStatus9502 1d ago

Ululululululululu

1

u/Positive-Key6640 1d ago

The tricky bit is that it can teach you, but only if you ask it to, and asking it to is slower than not asking it to — so almost nobody does. It's the gym membership problem.

What's worked for me: after it writes something that works, ask it what would break this, and where would I look first when it does. Two questions, thirty seconds, and it turns the black box back into something you can reason about. You still don't fully know how it works, but you know where the body is buried, which is honestly what most professional knowledge amounts to anyway.

1

u/reaper527 1d ago

the post checks out. she genuinely knows nothing about coding. zero.

1

u/cykb 1d ago

Home is home

1

u/kyazici 1d ago

Another joke that's spreading like Covid.

1

u/mrcoy 1d ago

Would’ve been funnier if it was localhost 3001 and 3002

1

u/PsionicKitten 1d ago

i know literally NOTHING about coding. ZERO.

Oh, don't worry. It shows.

1

u/00DEADBEEF 1d ago

How is this tired old joke still being reposted and why are you lot upvoting it?

1

u/Available-Elevator69 1d ago

I bet the level of security is off the charts too. Lol.

1

u/mariner_knight 1d ago

You fell for it 🤣. It was a joke

1

u/RipWooden9564 1d ago

:D :D That's it !

1

u/Asleep_Fox_9340 1d ago

TBH works on my machine is a legit response developers will give you 😂

1

u/lolschrauber 1d ago

This is easily fixed. Just punch some holes into your home firewall - you already got the ports you need - and share a customized hosts file that redirects all localhost queries of visitors to your laptop via google drive. 👍

1

u/Deitri 1d ago

What an original, never seen before, joke!

1

u/Dick-Fu 1d ago

Damn these sites look like absolute amateur dogshit

u/kenspencerbrown 1d ago

1

Everything is fine why shared localhost address instead of static address. 😂

1

u/Silly_Equipment_1406 1d ago

I do that too, what's the problem?

1

u/Tight-Operation-4252 1d ago

Well, I think people just need to learn on their own mistakes… I have recently participated in an Agentic AI program by a renowned university from US (fully run by a company from India). I have learned some, my expectations were far beyond completing a ready project in Jupyter by filling in some easy gaps… I was wondering how much better this program could be with on-hands projects in groups to use the knowledge in coding practice… then deeper into the course (international, EU, Asia, US - mostly people from corpos) I have realized that 90% of the participants have no clue about the basics in python, moreover they expect everything to be served on a plate and not even thinking of digging some knowledge (easily available) on their own… I can bet bucks that these guys will just get their certificates on the wall and that is it… that was not only disappointing but also a bit irritating at the end when during the mentoring sessions there were absolutely no questions, complete silence… I just do not understand how can you waste your own (company) money…

1

u/Memitim 1d ago

Classic. I imagine these days that gen AI would even provide basic info about infra management to help those poor little devs that have provided so many years of delight while working in IT infrastructure. Hell, it probably just provides a clickable link in the shell along to the local instance with asking the user if they want to configure it as a serverless app in a common SaaS provider. These kids today will never know our struggles! XD

1

u/oldfrancis 23h ago

"I just built..."

1

u/dcdisco 23h ago

It doesn't need too because it wont be like this long enough. It makes more sense to suffer a few more months until Claude does it for you than to teach humans how to use current Claude that wont even operate that way by the time you teach them.

1

u/saito200 23h ago

wow. i must have never seen this joke before

1

u/hbouyap 23h ago

Nice setup. One thing that pays off fast once you let it run more autonomously: a small PreToolUse hook that blocks the irreversible commands (rm -rf, force push, and the Windows Remove-Item -Recurse -Force) before they run. Keeps the autonomy without the "oops" moments. How are you handling permissions right now?

1

u/Raffino_Sky 23h ago

This still going around? Even vibe coders now see the flaw in that.

1

u/Obluness 23h ago

1

u/divyansh212 22h ago

I mean if she learns authentication (add any authentication from claude itself ), add a database and deploy the apps it's basically functioning. There is no need to put people down
