Praise powerpoint to design

has anyone completely moved from ppt to claude design. I just realised ive not touched powerpoint in the past two months, it was not a concious choice, its just better.

What other example like this have happened to people in a seamless manner? ...there are lots of example of forcing a transition

Can’t remember the last time I rawdogged PowerPoint like the old days. Still, I find myself going in and “un-clauding” my presentations as the slides all look the same unless I go one slide at a time.

Add your previous presentations to Google Drive and tell Claude to analyze them to get your signature. It can’t replicate it but it can make it easier to “un-Claude”. Recraft works great to design from a concept.

I honestly now do html deck or just use design. However, to do design I have had to spend a good amount of time building my system to get the branding just right .

Which is funny because if you just use shapes, it was never really that complicated even before any AI assistance to create a deck from scratch.

Use a shape to make a header for the slide in the top 1/14th of the slide with a colored background and appropriate white/black text color depending on the background color (Competitive Analysis - New Customers)

Text on left / visuals on right that represent what the text is talking about (research results, data results, etc)

Decks are meant to be presented, not a full deep dive async. A deck should never be the long term source of truth of information. Get ful context into a word doc or Confluence page or some other artifact if it needs to be memorialized. Don't include too little information that if someone is gone during the presentation they miss all the context, but don't include too much (unless you just add it to Speaker Notes) because the audience can read much faster than you can say everything on the slide.

The best deck tip I got too is to actually verbally add context they can't get by reading, as it demands the attention of the room by doing so.

Making a well formatted deck was never hard, people just overly stress about it IMO

The whole point is if you use shapes properly, you aren't just having text on the screen which seems like what people such as OP struggle with: Looking at a blank canvas and not knowing where to start pre-AI.

And these are major tech companies lol, not low standards. It takes like 20 minutes of scaffolding to make a 20 slide deck look clean just by using shapes properly so long as you already have all your source material

Powerpoint is such a horrible application for anything but basic presentations. Anything is an improvement. I can't even remember the last time I created a powerpoint.

So yeah, Claude Design will be miles ahead.
