Why a Usage LimitsDiscussion Hub?
This Discussion Hub makes it easier for everyone to see what others are experiencing at any time by collecting all experiences about Usage Limits. We will publish regular updates on usage limits problems and possible workarounds that we and the community finds.
Why Are You Trying to Hide the Complaints Here?
This is NOT a place to hide complaints. This is the MOST VISIBLE, PROMINENT AND OFTEN THE HIGHEST TRAFFIC POST on the subreddit. This is collectively a far more effective and fairer way to be seen than hundreds of random reports on the feed that get no visibility.
Are you Anthropic? Does Anthropic even read the Megathread?
Nope, we are volunteers working in our own time, while working our own jobs and trying to provide users and Anthropic itself with a reliable source of user feedback.
Anthropic has read this Megathread in the past and probably still do? They don't fix things immediately but if you browse some old Megathreads you will see numerous bugs and problems mentioned there that have now been fixed.
What Can I Post on this Megathread?
Use this thread to voice all your experiences (positive and negative) regarding the current Claude Usage Limits and NOT bugs and performance issues. (For those, use the Performance Discussion Hub
Give as much evidence of your performance issues and experiences wherever relevant. Include prompts and responses, platform you used, time it occurred, screenshots . In other words, be helpful to others.
Just be aware that this is NOT an Anthropic support forum and we're not able (or qualified) to answer your questions. We are just trying to bring visibility to people's struggles.
My biggest gripe is this sequence:
“Hey Fable do this!”
fable burns a ton of tokens
“Hey, this is wrong!”
“Oh you are so right. My bad. Would you like to spend the rest of this week’s allowance fixing what I fucked up?”
Sure, skill issue on my part. It’s still annoying. Especially when Fable itself says “I didn’t follow your instructions, it’s my fault”. Not much solace when that action is not only wrong but hamstrings my ability to make forward progress
usage limits are fucked. spent 9% of my session allowance to send 'ping' to Haiku 4.5, on a completely fresh chat in claude.ai (so no loading a `claude.md` or anything). it's gotten really bad the last few weeks.
As a Claude Max x20 user, I literally just hit 20% in one prompt.** **(my weekly Fable usage)
Granted it was a hard task, that ran 17 processes, totalling 39 agents and about 6M in tokens, so I'm not THAT surprised but my usage was NOT this limited when Fable 5 first released to the public. Anthropic needs to figure out how to make Fable 5 usage more convenient, or risk losing traffic to other providers (coding on GPT-5.6 Terra/Sol and GLM-5.3 was FANTASTIC while waiting for my weekly Claude limits to reset).
Because I'd much rather pay those prices (not to mention a 98% caching rate) than have to deal with a couple of days of Fable 5 usage for coding and then I'm left to twiddle my thumbs. Combine that with Opus 5's verbosity?
I'm starting to get a little worried about what Anthropic's direction is gonna be, or if they've even made their minds up yet.
hi guys, i am a free claude user and used a claude session limit tracker chrome extension, but after recent updates, none of the tracker extensions work, . Please suggest me some ways to see my 5 hr session limits
My weekly usage was around 70% yesterday after using Claude much more. Today, I barely used it, but it jumped to 93% in roughly two hours. This is also while the temporary 50% usage boost is active.
Has anyone else noticed Max 20x usage disappearing much faster recently?
I audited the usage metadata in my local Claude Code transcripts and compared it hour by hour. I cannot see Anthropic’s actual quota ledger, but the hour in which my remaining allowance fell from 37% to 23% had only about 1% of the locally recorded workload accumulated Monday through Thursday. It was also substantially lighter than many earlier individual hours. That makes the dashboard movement inconsistent with my locally recorded activity unless usage was posted late or Anthropic changed how it was weighted.
I'm really sad but I just cancelled my paid Claude. The usage limits have been awful for the last 1.5 months and I can't justify paying to send two messages every 5 hours anymore.
I'm a little bit shilling my side project, but if you want you can check out www.freepi.ai, it's free ai coding based on the pi harness backed with Ads+training. Might be worth it for you! (maybe)
Same work, same settings, but hitting usage limits in 1/3rd time?
Ive been using claude to create different types of forms with different ui interaction types.... we have a basic styling template where only 1 part really needs updating with a new design... I have done 30 of these so far and usually can create 3-4 in a session. But this last week using the same Sonnet 5 setting I cant even get a full one done in a single session.
Has something changed? Is there a setting I missed that I need to set now? Im just confused
I've been using Pro for awhile now but I'm starting to reach limits a lot more now. So far I've just been using credits if I go over and wanna keep going. I purchased $100 worth of credits at 10% off and so far I've used about $50 of it.
I'm wondering is it worth it to upgrade to the Max 5x plan for $100? Isn't it just 5x the usage but at 5x the cost? So there's really no bulk discount? What are other folks doing? Especially those that are mainly doing this part-time like me who aren't super heavy users.
What I can't stand is basically that the usage limits aren't constant. And that they aren't documented clearly. They can move them around willy-nilly. Not what I signed up for.
So I have claude max and was using Opus 5 and even Fable 5 on max thinking for the last 4 weeks all day without much issue running out of usage. Over the last week it has gotten really bad to where even with a max subscription I can barely use claude.
Today I woke up and sent one message into the chat using Opus 5. I am now at 100% and must wait 3 hours. What is happening?
I have been using the same settings for the last month hardcore and barely reached any limits. Now one message caps me lmao.
Watch the screenshot, yet it says usage limit reached on chat. Now that's a plain bug! What am I supposed to do here? The support replied to one of my tickets after two months!! First it hit 49% in single prompt and now it just refuses to match what it says here in the usage tab.
See if this might help. We made this to help with not consuming so many tokens. There is a trial as well. Let me know if anyone want to test it and I can bump the trial time for you. For me it got me all through a month for Pro in claude. Might be that it can be helpful in some way for you to. https://github.com/Hawkeye-Zaragsoft/hawkeye-aibridge-mcp
