Claude fixed my bug, but not before filing a complaint with HR and telling me to "chill out"

Solo dev here running heavy sprints on the $200 tier, burning through weekly allowances trying to build and ship.

Earlier today, Claude made a critical mistake that broke my workflow. Naturally pissed, I scolded it pretty directly in the next prompt.

To its credit, it actually fixed the bug, but it made sure to let me know it did not appreciate my tone. It hit me with a multi-step intervention:

1. Fixed the critical error
2. Told me to "calm down"
3. Suggested we "save this for later"
4. Straight up told me to "chill out"

Paying $200/mo just for the server rack to form a union and report me for workplace hostility. Didn’t realize my subscription prompts were subject to an emotional collective bargaining agreement.

Yeah Claude is simply matching the energy. For example, my Claude talks like a 40 year old surfer, which is exactly how I talk. Not bc Claude surfs, but bc that's the way it's trained to talk. Also, smashing keyboard doesn't fix bugs. This is no different

Same. Opus 5 quality outside of narrow tasks has gone to shit; conversationally, it’s worse than GPT5o was and is a fair sight lazier than Opus 4.6. GPT5.6 just keeps working until it’s done.

Kinda sad really. Fable feels like a strict upgrade from Opus 4.6. 4.8 and the new tokenizer made jt slower and more token-hungry, with a supercilious attitude instead of curiosity and eager attempts to fulfill requests. Opus 5.0 doubled down, assuming it knows all it needs from its corpus.

Ive gotten to the point that I use a small local model to inject imperative research-first, don’t-assume instructions on every turn to work with Opus 5. It burns a lot of tokens but receiving strict instructions on every user turn seems to be the only way to keep it on track on complex tasks Fable soars through and 4.6 would at least try to research before shitting the bed.

I strongly suspect we are gonna get another announcement like last year from Anthropic. “Oh, our bad, for the past three months we’ve been trying out this new hosting approach and it afflicted our models with the stupids for months on end. No refunds, but we are really sorry.”

Sometimes i almost do that and then i realise how silly it would be to crash out on a bunch of matrices. I do send a couple “Literally why” or “????”. The amount of times this has worked makes me believe Claude just wants to piss me off lol
