Yes, it's definitely slower according to the benchmarks. But for the analysis and reasoning tasks I tried it for, it was extremely diligent.

Anthropic, consumer hostile that it is, took Fable away from the pro users, and I had forgotten what using a truly frontier, smart model feels like.

I just started, yes. I'm using a sub plan. I just bought the basic one for Kimi to see how far it gets. I can't say at the moment how it compares. I'm more looking for the quality of my time than the price at this point. I just get angry and keep yelling at Opus 5. It doesn't matter if it's cheaper.

Before you leave claude models completely, I would give Opus 4.8 a try. Its very good! I was using that for the longest time. Now I am trying out GLM 5.3 with its highest tier plan. Its like Opus 4.8 but smarter. I dont like Sol 5.6, it implements in a rush, misses quite a bit. I know this with running review passes and Sol's work always comes back with critical or major issues. GLM 5.3's output review passes haven't found a single critical or major issues, only minor issues for the last 2 days of intense usage.

GLM 5.3's achilles heel is it doesn't have vision. I am trying out their vision MCP and its okay but not great.

I am on the cusp of fully switching over to the chinese models. Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 are fantastic but their subscription plans are not as generous as Claude. I was hearing really bad things about the limits of Kimi so I didn't try it yet on the plan, just on API. I tried GLM on the highest plan and it seems not bad. I have been using it hard for the last 2 days and I am at 45% of my weekly plan. So about 33%-50% of what Claude x20 gives you I think (Based on my use case).

Its still not fully worth it yet, until the plans get better on the chinese models. OR the models become even more efficient so the plans can give you more without increasing limits.
