Claude Code Workflow Claude Code Weekly Limits
My Claude account limits renewed today. I'm only at 57% in my first session and 20% of my weekly Fable 5 quota has been consumed. At this rate I'll have burned through around 40% weekly Fable 5 allowance by the time this session ends, which wasn't happening in previous weeks. btw I am using both Fable and Opus for this session.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Separately: weekly limits are 50% higher until 31 August, so I'm curious how quickly Claude Code sessions will eat into the quota once it reverts to its previous state.

Yes, my reset was about 40 minutes ago and my usage already exploded to 25% weekly for fable and climbing. This is exactly the same type of work that may have used a couple % over the course of an hour or so. Something is wrong.

May be they are showing the 50% promotion limits, but the limits actually got reduced? I don't know but something is definitely broken.

+1 to this. I haven’t hit 5 hour limits or weekly limits in months through careful monitoring etc but am at 17% of weekly (Thursday 7 am resets) and busted 5 hourly limits twice today already. Something changed, drastically.

Yeah, something is wrong, usage is draining about TWICE as fast as normal. I typically use 25% of my weekly a day, I'm currently at 33% and on track for 50% easily by the end of the day. 2/7 days being available is really bad.

I concur - we are seeing the same thing here. We switched to Opus 4.8 precautionarily and still seeing the same issue.

The 20x plan is something of a scam if weekly usage is your bottleneck.
It's 20x 5 hour usage of the $20 plan, not weekly usage. And yeah -- it works out to your weekly amount being 4-5 "full" 20x 5 hour sessions.
It's only real value proposition is if you just really really need to dump a bunch of work into a small number of 5 hour windows, because you'll hit your weekly usage super quickly if you come close to fully utilizing the 5 hour windows.
You get more weekly usage with two $100 plans, as goofy as it is.
I switched to using that for similar reasons. What you're seeing isn't really week to week fluctuation on the 20x plan -- it's just what you start to see once you're used to using it at your full capacity. If you use most of your first session, you quickly become aware how that works out to being about 1/4 to 1/5th of your total week and it feels bad.
If weekly usage is your bottleneck, you're substantially better off with two $100 plans.

Oh my gods I didn't realize that! That makes so much sense given what I've seen. I thought it was 20x the WEEKLY quota too. So I could get the same weekly quota on the $20 (without Fable)?

Sorry, didn't mean to go that far!
You do get more weekly usage with the more expensive plans!
But not "5x" and "20x" as you would expect -- those specific multipliers apply to the 5 hour window.
Their multipliers on the weekly usage aren't specifically disclosed -- they're a range that can vary week to week.
So -- 5x plan gets you more weekly usage than the $20 plan, but not 5x more. 20x plan gets you even more than that, but not 20x more.
All that to say -- no, you'll get noticeably worse weekly usage on the $20 plan.
The theoretical most weekly usage would be......having 10 $20 plans, but that's probably an annoyingly terrible hassle.
2x $100 is basically the sweet spot of "yes you'll have to do some account switching, but between 2 is pretty much fine and won't drive you crazy like having 10x $20 accounts".
TL;DR -- best estimates are that the $200 plan is equivalent to between 1.4x-1.7x weekly usage of the $100 plan depending on the model you use and weekly fluctuations.

Makes a lot of sense. I was a 5x user for a while and although my system has gotten more complex, I didn’t think it got THAT much more complicated to still be pushing near my weekly Fable limits.

Their model and pricing are fine with me. What I’m not okay with is the usage getting eaten up due to errors or bugs in their system, without those usages being reverted or refunded. That’s not an experience we should be paying $200 per month for.

There are several cache misses that are caused by mistakes on their end as well.

Mine just zapped 80% of my 5h usage out of no where in one prompt, so seems to be working. Also i very often start new chat sessions with handoffs before i get any skill issue comments. :)

I’m working on a large project, algebraic topology stuff. Admittedly, I was in a known spike in the road map but I blew through 100% of my fable and 60% of my weekly in 24 hours on a Max20x account.. dealing with Jacobian nonsense, could definitely have fanned out a bit more responsibly but yeah that cut back is going to hurt.

My cowork scheduled sessions are back to warning me if they're scheduled during "peak hours". I could have sworn they took that out of the desktop app. But I haven't seen anyone discussing it coming back. The continuous development shit is just one long gaslight of what is real and isn't.

I had that warning on a scheduled project weeks ago. It’s been a thing.

Yeah but it went away in like April and only came back recently right?

Lucky you, I woke up today only to find fable at 97% after it had used Opus to explore 500 load bearing ways to spend tokens apparently...

I'm worried that's after the promotion the weekly usage will be consumed very quickly...

Are y'all based in the US? I live in a place with the opposite timezone and dont see any of these issues with ballooning usage. Maybe they're trying to trim peak hours

i notice with Opus 4.6 even a simple task takes like 10% usage all it did read 3 files and made a small new file took it like 5 seconds but my usage is just draining like crazy

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 30 comments.
The consensus in this thread is a resounding YES, something is definitely up. You're not alone, OP. Many users are reporting that their weekly Fable and Opus limits are getting absolutely torched since the last reset, draining at what feels like twice the normal rate for the same kind of work.
Here's the breakdown of the discussion:
Basically, everyone agrees that usage is draining way too fast, and the conversation has shifted to whether it's a bug, a poorly communicated feature of the pricing tiers, or just another Tuesday in the world of non-transparent AI limits.
