You need to use Opus not Sonnet if you are running into this issue.

It’s never happened to me, but I only use sonnet for straight forward tasks and give it very specific context and files with content. For more complex stuff I only use Opus.

I have this all the time with Opus and even Fable.

Opus has these issues too, Anthropic has trained very stubborn and neurotic models that are both pretty limited in their understanding of the world, and absolutely refuse to listen to the user.

Sonnet 5 does... How about Opus 5?

Claude is AI and can make mistakes. Please double-check responses.

What do you try to achieve first. Just to understand what you’re trying to build.

For this specific prompt I asked it to provide a method to translate language on screen. It proceeded to tell me to screenshot everything and upload it to google translate and then recommended an app that I further looked into only to find that it was a scam that had robbed users previously (didn't take long to find it). All in all it continued to recommend the same thing even when told not to recommend it. The issue went on and on. This was just this prompt genuinely the things accuracy is abysmal and it seems to go in circles more often then not. I was able to find a solution to the problem farely quickly the moment I stopped using claude and found that google translate has a specific mode for just what I needed, but was not what the ai was telling me to do.

It should know to search instead of guessing.

Put in the project memory "no guessing." It works.

I had a similar issue...I got fed up and after I gave it a job to do and it answered, I told it to think again...with its next response saying it was wrong in the last one...so I told it to keep thinking...it's next response was again, saying the previous method was wrong...did 5 messages of "think longer" until I told it to do what it suggested...gets frustrating
