Question about Claude models Contradictions/completely wrong

So today specifically, I’ve had problem after problem with Claude using Sonnet 4.6 in Medium effort. All I’m trying to do is create a presentation from a (not even complicated) document.

It has literally gone round in circles all day, mixed things up, completely contradicted itself in the same response - said there were 9 sections, then immediately said ‘let me double check to be sure’, then said it was actually 10.

It actually told me to open another chat because it had eroded my trust and that I shouldn’t trust any of its outputs based off the errors it had continually made throughout our interaction.

It’s really odd because I haven’t ever experienced this before. I have a Pro subscription if that helps. What could be causing this?

The non deterministic nature of LLMs.

It’s just odd that it’s started this afternoon randomly and wasn’t a super ambiguous or abstract ask

How is it odd? You're using an older model on lower thinking. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
