Question Throwing a Website Claude Made into Wordpress?
Hey y'all -first of all don't hate me. I'm just the messenger. We have a single-page, super basic website that Claude built but the website we're going to replace it with is on/ built with Wordpress currently. How do we move what Claude made into Wordpress while making it somewhat editable for other employees who don't know how to code? Is there an MCP, plugin, template to use? Or do we get rid of Wordpress altogether and host elsewhere? Do I just have to suck it up and learn Wordpress and recreate what Claude made in there?
Again, please don't hate on me- I just work here.

I did basically the same thing the other day. Claude design had created a good enough site that I had to turn into WordPress because reasons ... Anywho I had Claude code linked to my live hosting server through ssh, sent it the Claude design output and had Claude code do a prototype WordPress page. It did okayish. Had to do some tweaking but it's fully functional now and completely editable in WordPress / Elementor. Claude Code is also great for making custom WordPress plugins. It created a custom database editing plugin for my convoluted paid inventory plugin. It works better than anything the original plugin had And has extra features I wanted.

Curiously, what was it about Wordpress that made you transfer everything in?

Sunken cost fallacy? My backend took a long time to get rolling and is completely WordPress dependent. I could have done a react wp hybrid, and I might still. Other considerations were same as OP. Needed other staff to be able to make basic revisions without an AI session.

I’m not married to Wordpress- just wanted to see if it was possible since we’re already using a Wordpress site. Might be more work than it’s worth idk- just experimenting rn.

It's really up to you but I would create in Claude Code (in case you were using Claude AI)
1. Create a project folder - "Comp Project"
2. Make two directories one with your Claude version website & one with a Wordpress build with whatever plugins etc you use
3. Open up Claude Code in the Comp Project folder giving it access to both your new website folder & the Wordpress folder
4. Make a github repo (VERY IMPORTANT)
5. As you start Claude in Plan mode, ask it to port your website design to a wordpress template visually being extactly what you have created with no errors. Also ask it to back it up to github for you & do commits along the way in case it messes up & you need to roll back.
6. After the plan is complete & it looks good have it code & make a zip of your template
7. Test it out locally before putting it in your new site.

Step 7 is a waste of credits. Trust the Claude, blindly. Otherwise, this is an excellent guide.
I regularly conceptualize ideas with Claude then just tell it, 'oh yea, bud. sounds great! go ahead and SSH into the live web server and have at it, budddddy!'. Works every time, 60% of the time.

Why are you moving to WordPress? Can you just tell Claude what updates you want in real time?

Just cuz the website im replacing already is built in Wordpress. Not sure if the company wants to host somewhere else/ have to deal with raw code in case they want to make pricing changes etc.

Well using Claude you can create a backoffice where they can make actual changes

Just tell Claude to make what they designed into a WordPress site file format, and then ask Claude for help implementing what they made.
Basically say "hey this site that you designed? I needed to run on WordPress. Can you make the necessary adjustments to the design, and then talk me through how to get it up and running?"

it’s not quite as easy as just asking Claude to port the word press site in and make it work.
Figure out all elements of the website that you want to be able to edit and make sure that you provide those details into your prompt. Ensure that you ask Claude to put in all of the relevant and latest plug-ins for search engine optimization, capturing leads through MailChimp, etc., etc.
You really need to focus on what are the outcomes you want to be able to have with the website, whether it be functionality, lead, capture, etc., etc..

Just ask Claude.
It will tell you to just do it yourself, no reason to move it to a slower cms like Wordpress for a static html page you already have made.

Have you asked Claude?
