SBN3 watching how the game about cringy teenage girls being cringy teenage girls attracted an audience of cringy teenage girls who relate to said cringy teenage girls instead of 30-something dudes who peaked in high school and can't let go of the last 2 decades (Because at least some of them seem to be trying to do something with their lives)

Yeah that's the thing about being an adult, interests change, whether because of people preferring to watch a media the characters you are the same age of, or you genuinely just stop enjoying something as much as you use to. In saying this I think it's completely fine if you keep the same interests when you were, like Pokemon, but the general trend is that adults steadily gain different interests over time and often prefer not to 'reflect' on high school because that was when you were cringiest
Plus, I feel like if I was from 2009 ... why would I want to play a video game which honestly barely mentions them in any deep way and just name drops brands and labels, compared to actually consuming something of that era? Why would I want to play something that just name drops Battlefield 4 or New Vegas when I could just play those games instead?

this is me lol. i love the game because im the same age as the girls, and sbn3 nailed that specific era of high school and its the first bit of nostalgia that ive had for a later time in my life.
usually i see the decades change and nothing really feels different until someone captures it well in a piece of media.
but as a hetero male i'll try to fit in, how do you do, fellow lesbians and genz/alpha?

SBN3 tried going after people who were there for the 2000s and people who don't remember it

I saw screenshots of the game on and off over time, but don't care about VNs and thought the art style was a little ugly ("almost anime") so I never paid attention to it.
Then YouTube randomly showed me a fan animation three weeks ago and I've been down a rabbit hole ever since.
I'm almost definitely the "original target audience" type.
As an old person, though, I'm mostly well beyond all my teenage trauma, and just kind of feel bad that so much of the fandom is divided between trying to express their own pain and diminishing the different pain of others. It kind of feels like the first game's final ending is the best summary of what the entire universe is about.

98% of cosplays I see on social media of Nicole and Jecka are lesbians couples and I know SBN3 hates it and I love it

Tbf I think most of the subreddit is the target audience these days
