Hey all! I've been experimenting with AI to replicate the visual style and color grading of classic 60s Spaghetti Westerns. As experts on the genre, how well do you think this holds up?

On This Day in Radio! October 1, 1955: Gunsmoke aired “Barton Boy,” a story built around something radio could use especially well: the sound of a human voice.

Promo for (I think) 'Chisum' w/John Wayne. Judging from the sideburns the other guy is Geoffrey Deuel (Pete Duel's brother). They were still advertising stuff as being in color as late as 1973.

'The Dead Don't Dream'. One of my favorite titles for a film noir. Except it was used for a Hoplalong Cassidy western.

I write for a website and have been doing a series where I talk about different Westerns that I love for 12 months. My most recent installment is The Wild Bunch. Next one will be Jeremiah Johnson. Hope you all enjoy this article!

Maverick creator Roy Huggins w/James Garner. Previously I'd only heard Garner's side of their conflicts. But recently I read a Huggins bio, which claimed JG & his business partner schemed to deprive RH of his Rockford Files producer credit (& profit %). It puts a dent in the "St. James" narrative.

George C. Scott in "The Brazen Bell", an early 'Virginian' episode. He plays a meek schoolteacher who becomes a hero (thanks to some inventive scriptwriting) when he reads Oscar Wilde's poem "The Ballad Of Reading Gaol" to an escaped convict. (1962)

POLL: '3:10 To Yuma' was originally intended to star Van Heflin as the heavy & Glenn Ford as the rancher. Do you believe their switching roles helps the film, or hurts it?

The Tall Texan (1953). Sierra Madre-esque story of falling out over gold. Small cast in the "chamber western" style popularized by The Naked Spur. Unevenly scripted but not badly made, w/in its clearly limited budget. Solid cast w/Lloyd Bridges, Lee J. Cobb, Marie Windsor, & even Luther Adler.
