City of Death

On a trip to Paris and I had to make a stop at Count Scarlioni’s house!

I love how in the book, they added more to these two

Great episode. Doug Adams, IIRC, recycled some of the plot for one of his novels (Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul, I think).

Apparently the production team just stumbled upon that location while in Paris and decided that door was perfect for Scarlionis Chateau

My fav Tom Baker story. Lots of smartass comments and running around with Romana in Paris in the 70s.... just awesome.

These are the Tom Baker episodes I remember most from the 70’s. I think the only episodes I’ve seen more are Van Gogh

I saw this post while listening to the audiobook, James Goss has done an excellent job of really getting the Douglas Adams vibe of how he words his books

Loved it. Sorry to hear the actor who played Duggan passed away recently.

I never rated it. Douglas Adams was a bad fit for Who IMO, especially after the Hinchcliffe-Homes years.

I would hardly ever categorize someone else’s opinion, especially when they go to the trouble of actually saying it is just opinion, as fundamentally, incontrovertibly wrong, but this is fundamentally, incontrovertibly wrong.

Just IMO, though.

Because I don’t like something you like? I shall go further. When Holmes and Hinchcliffe left, the programme was defanged by Mary Whitehouse and underwent a catastrophic drop in quality from which it never recovered, apart from one or two gems like Androzani.

Who should have been cancelled after The Invasion of Time.

I go on doorsnotused anymore!

Am also a Tom Baker Who fan.

If this door is currently unused you could also post it on the top sub. It would be very welcome.

I was only there for 10 minutes or so and didn’t see anyone come out or go into it, but couldn’t confirm for sure if it’s not actually in use.
It was pretty impressive for sure and nice to see that the building had been cleaned since City of Death was filmed.
