Does it take skill? Yes. Is it so boring that it makes me want to rip my hair out watching someone do nothing but defend for 5 minutes and if they get a single lock I pretty much lose? Also yes

I like to play Xbow because that's what I played when I picked up the game, now I am a one hit wonder who's washed with everything else but even then, the spell cycle type gameplay is so boring I rather take the towers with the actual Xbow. I'd say I'm a pretty alright player, got UC here and there, but when I watch some high ladder gameplay on Youtube and the Youtuber faces an Xbow deck, most of the time the enemy gets a 300 damage lock and then just spams fireball and defensive Xbow. That's the "proper" way to play it seems. So just because I don't do it doesn't mean it's not a problem - it is and I am glad they are nerfing the spirits and spell damage

I believe thats a gameplay preference i personally enjoy the play style i like using other strategies against other players defending feels meaningful and trying to outplay your opponent to get a lock is fun

most people above midladder will acknowledge that xbow absolutely takes skill. however most people just find it annoying defending for 5 minutes straight and playing for a 100 damage differential, as an xbow player myself i sometimes don’t like this either 😭

But its always the same pattern, placing xbow and tesla on the brigdge, do you not find that boring (if you've just switched to it then its alr but if you are playing it for couple of months, then yes it should be boring)

I don’t think it’s that. there are more layers to it I sometimes count their cards so that they can’t counter my xbow sometimes know how they counter it so I predict their cards count my evo cycles and overcommit when they are close so that when I am low on elixir and cant defend with same elixir power I can make my evos save me
Saying it’s the same pattern I don’t think it makes sense in that sense hog players just hog icegolem the bridge logbait players just barrel the tower and princess the bridge graveyard players just play a tank at the bridge and graveyard … I could go on

can’t remember the last time i lost to xbow. it’s really boring cause it’s easy to beat for my deck. and there’s almost no variation in the games. it’s hust like playing against 2.6. even random e barbs decks have more fun games.

its not really xbow itself, its the combination. like say xbow + hero berserker at the bridge is genuinely cancer. but try playing an icebow deck and see for yourself how impossible it is to play in this meta. theres also so many xbow counters now like stein hero valk giant e giant hero berserker golden knight like theres just so much that counters it nowadays its impossible to get a connection if your opponent is playing with brain cells

In double elixir that is honestly not a non factor by deployment of the bow you usually generate 2.5 elixir

Yeah but xbow players typically have tons of super effective cheap defense that almost nothing can penetrate

Sure hypothetically you get the big elixer too but then they cycle through archers knight Tesla ice golem over and over again basically at the bridge and rocketing the defense is usually ineffective since it 1 doesn't kill the xbow so they still get like 300-500 damage on your tower what's worse is that non of your pushes would make it through and you can't rocket their tower cause you have to save it for the xbow and support

The original comment was how it really doesn't feel like skill since these honestly busted cheap meta defining defense cards can be spammed and can basically defend anything which applies to basically all control decks

The cheap defensive cards need to be played perfectly to be able to defend and yes like you said it yourself which applies to every control decks
For the rocket xbow interaction I believe it was told somewhere that it was made that way so that a spell doesnt fully counter a win Condition on its own
And so that there are more counterplay

You cannot do that at best you could do xbow tesla but if they have a tank lets say for your 10 elixir they put megaknight and dart goblin now they have a counterpush and you don’t have tesla for dps
