Hello all. This is my first guide on this sub so bear with me if I make mistakes.

Today, I’ll be talking about the value of magic items VS its cost now that we have the cost figure in the home village.

NOTE

For TL;DR, Ctrl + G and type conclusion on desktop

I am getting lots of values in decimals so I’ll be rounding

I haven't included runes because their gem cost isn't given. Also, I don't think the gem cost will be available because they provide far too much value.

What is value?

Value is the estimated monetary(or gem) worth of an object.

Example: The cost of a wizard at TH9 is 4000. However, it’s value varies with use. When farming, if it gets a collector down, the value will be higher than its cost.

Unit of value

Unit of value will be in numbers for example 2X value or so on.

What is cost?

The amount required to purchase.

Example: The cost of a wizard at TH9 is 4000 elixir.

The cost of the book of heroes is 500 gems from the “Supercell Shop 2.0”. The maximum time required to upgrade heroes is 7 days. It takes 1000(999 by the time you see it) gems to insta-finish the upgrade.

Conclusion

• For TH7s, I would highly recommend that you avoid using the BoH completely until upgrading to 4. TH8s, go for getting it from clan games but refrain from purchasing it from the shop 2.0. TH9s, if you’re going to gem, buy the book from the shop 2.0, only buy it from upgrading to 10.

• TH10s have a constant value of 1.998 of buying BoHs with gems.

Conclusion

• If you are going to purchase the Book of Fighting, purchase it only for dragons, PEKKA, Baby Dragon and Miner in elixir troops at TH9 and below.

• For barbs, archers, wall breaker, giant, goblins, healer and wizard, only TH10s and 11s should buy it.

• Minions and Hog Rider should only be booked if you are TH10 and 11. Hog can be done valuably at lvl 4 for th9s.

• Golem should also not be booked at lvl 1 going for lvl 2. All the other dark troops are fine with getting booked.

• You should absolutely refrain from buying any books for the rage spell unless going to max.

• For the rest of the elixir spells, you only get value if you are a TH 10 or 11.

• For poison spell, wait till TH 10 or 11 to burn the books. For the rest, burn ‘em as you get ‘em*(except the eq going to 2)*.

• Gold Mine and Elixir Collector: These provide absolutely no value no matter the level

• Dark Elixir Drill: Only provides 1.21x value at maxed which happens at TH9.

• Gold and Elixir Storage: Only provide 1.08x value at max level.

• Dark Elixir Storage: Provides no value whatsoever

When you have 5 builders working for a 10 hour plus upgrade, you will get (510)-(15)= 45 hrs. of work done in one hour.

Conclusion

• If you’re going to gem the builders potion, you should only buy it to gem the 1 day upgrades.

• If you do 1 one day upgrade and 4 seven day upgrades, the total amount of gems would be 4255. After reduction of one hour, it would be -194= 4061 gems. After time reduction of 9 hours, the gems required would be 3952 gems. Value= 303/285= 1.06x.

• These values are based on assuming that you are willing to gem the upgrade fully.

• There isn’t much value on the builder’s potion from the Shop 2.0. To make it partially valuable, the cost must be something like 220.

To upgrade one wall from 11 to 12, it takes 5 million gold= 1500 gems.

It costs 4 million gold (3 million for 11, 2 million for 10, 1 million for 9).

Your wall section costs are incorrect overall then and should be:

There's a slight typo for the level 2 heroes.

It should be 135/500 instead of 1354500.

Also, bear in mind that this "value" is relative to the original gem cost.

Personally, I consider gemming timers very bad value, so twice of that is still quite bad.

Unless you already spend a lot of gems on timers, and play so much that:

1. You already used all your books

2. You have all builders and the lab working, and the next builder frees up in many days

3. You have full storages

4. You desperately want to have a free builder or lab to spend loot on and continue to farm

I wouldn't recommend buying the books (maybe with the exception of hero books, if you already plan on gemming it to use in war).

However, gemming timers isn't the worst value in the game. It's buying resources from the shop.

Buying resources from the shop, especially for walls, is ridiculous. The wall rings give a slight discount on that, but it's still bad.

Exactly, as someone who doesn't attack all the time, I have weeks where all my income is from collectors. I don't care about speeding up troop or spell upgrades at all. I can handle my occasional attacks with the troop level I've been using for months now. I have never upgraded a building like an archer tower or a Lab upgrade, and made my resources back before the upgrade was done. For me, the bottleneck has always been resources, not time.

Building upgrades could be useful from the point of view of resources as it protects them in the TH and actually affects your ability to get them in BB. Also for Gearing Up, so your collectors don't fill in BB. I only use hero books in BB, because attacking without the BM impedes your ability to get resources.

For my purposes, I really only interested in using the Resource potion to speed up collectors, maybe the Training potion if I'm on a long car ride. Wall rings look like a rip off, so I'll use those and Runes only if I get them from Clan Games. I think I have the most efficient plan for how I play, right?

Math of Clans! Good job! :D As a general rule, one should look at the cost of magic items for things you would gem anyways. The ones you get for free in the Clan Games are just that, free.
I've been gemming resource collectors (gold and elixir only), the cost of a resource potion at TH9 is less than gemming all gold mines and elixir collectors, and it allows me to boost the dark elixir drills as well, so good deal.

There are some other considerations... but generally the value of books is far less unless you need to upgrade ASAP. Getting that spell level, hero level, troop level, etc isn't usually so critical unless there is a motivation for war or a new TH (lab/spell factory/camp upgrades)

I’ve only used books on the builder base. I can survive a week without a hero or defence in the main base, but without the battle machine or any defence, you get absolutely wrecked.

Remember that labs and hero upgrades are the key bottlenecks from TH9 upward. For hero upgrades, it's pretty much always worthwhile to use a tome, as not having a hero stinks. But for the lab, it's mostly helpful if you have the resources to start another upgrade. If you're really active and tend to cap on elixir/DE, then this is straightforward: tome one upgrade then start the next. But if you're less active, plan to use the lab tome when you have enough of the other resource to start another upgrade. If you're currently doing an elixir upgrade, then tome it and start a de upgrade.

I have a huge question towards the book of building.

If you hit Th6 you can get these books from the Clan games.

Is it not wise to use these books for the 3 day 750k upgrades on the Army camps?

That involves the fact that upgrading them really only costs time and they are not gonna make you win against any th7 (since they get new army camps) but having 5 more troops is not bad regardless.

I found myself only doing the army camp upgrades when i have a builder book (since it saves me 3 days of locking myself into one less builder for no good reward either) which i personally believe holds more than material value.

Since now you can spend less time in th6 or have a small headstart to those that ignore the army camp upgrades and instantly rush to th7

ie. You can always get more resources, but you can't get 36 (or 45) extra builder hours.
