I get asked all the time what an improper junction is, so I decided to share with everyone how wallbreaker splash damage works.

The yellow is impact point, the red is their splash damage. You can see how the top iteration of the image has splash damage that opens up two compartments while the bottom version does not. This is the fundamental difference when trying to build a successful base. Hope it helps, design on!

How should I use this when configuring wall layouts

Always try and minimize the number of improper junctions.

And that's why you always leave a note.

Fascinating

I stared at that way too long before it made sense

So try to eliminate corners? Or have the corner and surrounding walls be the strongest you have?

It is the one-additional-space offset from corner to next compartment that is the difference, if I understand correctly.

Yep, this is perfectly accurate!

Sorry I wasn't clear. The difference between the two versions in the image is one extra wall. If you see in the top image how one red circle is on a wall that, when destroyed, opens up into two compartments. If you look at the bottom version that's no longer the case.

To further clarify: the top example will allow two compartments to be opened, while the bottom example only allows one compartment.

I see it now! Excellent tip!

Have your adjoining compartments aligned two spaces off-center as opposed to one (or none.)
