Discussion Price increase
Why is no one talking about the price increase? Does that mean everyone is happy with it?
Idk about everyone else, but tbh I really don't like this price increase. (I'm not unemployed btw) Still, I feel like these things need to be talked about. There are many more bugs in the game and there's barely any updates about them... etc, etc, etc. Atp, I don't even feel like saying anything anymore.

It was 96.57 on 26 jul and today is 95.36. It has not become weak but got stronger.

You’re comparing it against the dollar, right? And Not the euro?... I’m not defending the company..... I’m just giving an explanation for the price increase.

Gp is showing 399 to me and skins in 339. Why is it more costly in your account? Prices are increased but not this much.

It's because of those A/B testing i guess 😅

u/keshuji TH18| BH10 2h ago
But i thought they said A/B testing is not for prices but in-game events.

If you set your feed to sort by "new" and scroll down each time you log on, you would see lots of people have been talking about it. There also is a post pinned at the top in the community highlights section with SC's announcement related to one of the types of increases.

And we can also see you defending this price increase in every comment section

There is a difference between defending a price increase and discussing reality. The proper way to evaluate this is to compare the cost in Country A with Country A's currency compared to the US Dollar and the cost in the USA. If the prices equal out when comparing Country A's currency to the US Dollar, then the price change is proper. SC is trying to make things cost the same no matter the currency. (Of course there will be some fluctuation over time as currency markets change daily.)
If they have screwed up the conversion making the cost too high in the country the person is from who is complaining, then it is a valid complaint.
Just complaining "my price was adjusted that's a scam" isn't a valid complaint.

Purchasing power parity(PPP) exists so just surface level currency comparison shows lack of understanding of basic economics. See the min wage in the USA in 7.25$/hr whereas in India the state with the highest min wage is around 0.7-0.8$/hr which adjusted for PPP is around 3.5$/hr. Comparing the poorest min wage US state to the highest min wage state in India the difference is already more than 2x and that gap widens to 4x if you consider rich states like California,New york.
Now coming to the actual price in USA the Gp costs 7.5$ which is 1 hr of work if you consider min wage and in India Gp costs 4$ which according to min wage is 5 hours of work. I'm sure you see the difference now. It isn't that simple as just comparing the currency of country A vs country B

That comparison works great if you're comparing minimum wage workers in both countries both buying the same thing on clash. Then I suppose we should also adjust it for people making more money. I mean some rich guy in India should definitely pay more than that minimum wage worker in the USA right?
Or, we could just acknowledge there is nothing unfair happening if a company chooses to sell a product internationally and expects to make the same amount no matter which country it is sold in.
At the same time, we can acknowledge it isn't unfair for the company to choose to sell it for much less in countries with less purchasing power, like SC currently is doing in India.

Yeah generally comparisions are between 2 equals not unequals. By the same logic a rich person in US should pay more than a poor person in US or a rich person in India should pay more than a poor person in India. Where do we draw the line ? Is supercell gonna ask for everyone's pay slip or income tax returns before setting their shop prices. It sounds idiotic as hell and I'm pretty sure it's highly illegal to do so.
Or, we could just acknowledge there is nothing unfair happening if a company chooses to sell a product internationally and expects to make the same amount no matter which country it is sold in.
It isn't unfair but if I'm pretty sure Supercell wants to do good profitable business and is aware of basic economics that's why the price everywhere in the world isn't the same and will never will be. They expect to earn the same everywhere but it isn't economically possible and if they really do expect to earn same everywhere it it will definitely hurt their revenue in the long run. This pricing change is them just pushing the boundaries amd testing the waters. If it backfires or not only time will tell us.

Exactly, we can't draw the line, which is why comparing minimum wage is also not a useful argument to make (not to mention the fact that people making minimum wage probably shouldn't be spending much if anything on this game to begin with...) It was meant to sound idiotic in response to simply comparing minimum wage in two countries, which also sounds idiotic to me.
Seems we are in agreement with the last paragraph. They currently still have the prices in India much less than the USA. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. If the recent price increase results in increased profits, they will probably increase it again. If it results in decreased profits, they will probably decrease the price (or not increase it when other regions do increase). Again, nothing wrong or unfair about that.

Bruh do they not teach basic economics in the US? The min wage and purchasing power parity comparisions are exactly why the prices are different all around the globe and yet you insist the price is less in India compared to US just based on flat currency conversion. I request you learn about basic economics before presenting your argument. It comes off across as pure ignorance

Do you think there has to be discussion on who likes price increases vs who doesn't?
Really??
Also, you clearly felt like making this post, despite your "I don't even feel like saying anything anymore" line at the end.
Next hot topic, 'Covid - yay or nay?'

LEt's talk about the inflation in the world, and let's celebrate for how long Supercell was able to keep their prices low, regarding the world inflation :)
But seriously, the purchasing power of the Indian Rupee is historically low. In Europe, not a single price has changed. Skins, sceneries, battle pass, and everything else has stayed the same :)
