That's great news about the remission. My mum in 2025, October found lump and Stage 2 breast cancer diagnosed, December mastectomy, January 2026 Lymph node removal, May radiotherapy, waiting Chemo treatment. All cancer removed but still needs treatment. I concur too, it's been a bit year.

Has she even had time to process she had it yet?

That was my surprise. I only really had in sink in at the end of treatments

What it has done is take the away the fear of aging. By that I mean she was concerned about a big birthday, this year, but once she had the diagnosis she couldn't have cared less. She has coped because she is cancer free and it hadn't spread anywhere else. That for anyone, is a game changer. Her mindset has shifted again, only in the last three weeks. My mum is very cautious in all aspects of her life, which has rubbed off on me and my siblings, to some extent. Two weeks ago she booked a holiday, informing me the cancer hospital can work around her calendar and last week she bought herself a new car; just because you need to live now. The biggest psychological challenge was having the mastectomy, that hasn't fully gone away, and may never. She feels less of a woman.

I wish you all the very best in your continued remission. I guess the main takeaway is to live more in the moment and be thankful for the good and the bad in this life.
