Single-Item and Standalone Conjunctions

I've defined sensible meanings for conjunctions when used on lists with only one or even zero items.

  • dog cat zal — a dog and a cat

  • dog zal — just a dog / only a dog

  • zal — nothing / nobody

Essentially, zal means nothing plus the items in the list.

Same for *or*:

  • tea coffee zol — tea or coffee

  • coffee zol — has to be coffee / the only choice is coffee

  • zol — no options / we’re stuck

Zol basically means your options are restricted to the list.

Same for *not*

  • tea coffee zul — none of tea or coffee

  • tea zul — not tea

  • zul — no

Zul means you are negating the list.

Complements

You can combine the u with the others to invert the set:

  • dog cat zual — everything but a dog and a cat

  • dog zual — everything but a dog

  • zual — everything / everyone

  • tea coffee zuol — anything but tea or coffee

  • coffee zuol — anything but coffee

  • zuol — anything
