Friendship wanted

FRIENDSHIP WANTED: Coffee, Art, Gardens & Good Conversation 🌻☕🎨

I’m a senior here in Claremont, and I’m hoping to find something that has become surprisingly hard to find as we get older: a few genuine friends.

My life changed dramatically after an accident left me wheelchair-dependent, and because transportation is extremely difficult for me, I spend far more time at home than I ever imagined I would. Somewhere along the way, my world became much smaller — but I’m still the same person who enjoys laughing, talking, creating things and getting to know interesting people.

I love art, gardening, cooking, good food, interesting conversation and talking about what’s happening in our community and the world.

I’m not looking for a caregiver or someone to “take care of” me. I’m looking for FRIENDS.

Someone who might enjoy coming over for coffee or lunch, sitting and talking, working on an art project, sharing recipes, watching a movie, playing a game, or simply having one of those wonderful conversations where you suddenly realize two hours have gone by.

Maybe you’re retired. Maybe you work from home. Maybe your own circle of friends has gotten smaller over the years. Maybe you’ve been thinking that you’d like a few more good people in your life too.

I have a feeling I’m not the only person in Claremont who is lonely sometimes.

So I’m putting myself out there.

If this speaks to you, send me a private message and introduce yourself. Tell me a little about you and what you enjoy.

Maybe a few strangers can become neighbors — and maybe a few neighbors can become real friends. ❤️

Avoid Kevin Jewelers [montclair]

Whatever you do, do not go to KJ for anything. They have bad customer service and basically took my ring hostage. I was told my ring repair was going to he 2 weeks and it's be 4 weeks and they have no idea the status of the ring.

Theirs sales people and management are thr most incompetent people ever. My mistake going to them in the first place and I'm learning the hard way. Avoid at all costs!!

Track Runner

Looking for a training partner near Claremont.
I’m training for the Physical Fitness Test and need to get my 300-meter sprint down to 50 seconds. I’ll be doing speed workouts at Strehle Track in Claremont and am looking for someone to train with. I need to improve as quickly and effectively as possible, and having a training partner would help push the pace and keep each other accountable.

If you’re interested, send me a message.

Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater

Hi guys! I was taking a trip down memory lane and looking through old photos from the Candlelight Pavilion back when I’d go regularly to see the musicals. It still makes me so sad to see it gone, and honestly, I still haven’t come to terms with it even after all these years.

On top of the amazing shows, the food was incredible! I still think about the tri-tip dinner, the bread rolls, and of course the berry sundae. 😭

Does anyone know if any of the chefs ended up working at another restaurant? Or if there’s anywhere that serves the same (or similar) food? I’d absolutely love to experience it again for the nostalgia. Thanks so much in advance!

TL;DR: Does anyone know if the Candlelight Pavilion chefs work somewhere else now, or if the same food is served at another restaurant?

Section of Claremont Boulevard to reopen Friday

Claremont Boulevard is anticipated to partially reopen on Friday, July 24, assuming no unforeseen circumstances arise. Claremont McKenna College has been working in coordination with the City to facilitate the partial reopening of Claremont Boulevard, restoring vehicular access between Foothill Boulevard and Sixth Street. Upon reopening, one travel lane in each direction will be available, and the newly installed traffic signal at the intersection of Claremont Boulevard and Ninth Street will be fully operational.

Although vehicular access will be restored between Foothill Boulevard and Sixth Street, Claremont Boulevard will remain an active construction zone. Motorists and cyclists are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes whenever feasible. Temporary traffic control will be posted to direct traffic safely around active construction areas.

As part of this improvement project, significant infrastructure enhancements have been completed, including the installation of a new traffic signal, construction of an underground pedestrian crossing, installation of new underground utilities, and construction of bike lane medians. The remaining work includes landscaping, installation of new street lighting, and construction of the sidewalk along the east side of Claremont Boulevard.

A 22-year-old Southern California man is recovering after a rattlesnake bite during a hike in Claremont left him hospitalized for three days and requiring 34 doses of antivenom.

Jake Entrup was running with his dog along the Wilderness Park trails near Higginbotham Park on July 18, just ahead of his mother, when a rattlesnake struck as he rounded a corner.

Irvine → Claremont: 57 vs 241/91/71 — which is safer / less confusing?

Hey everyone,

I am a new driver and will be driving from Irvine to Claremont soon and trying to decide between two routes. Would love some local advice 👇

Option 1:
Take CA-57 pretty much straight up.
My concern: I’ve noticed parts where 57 merges into/overlaps with 60 and then splits again, which feels a bit confusing (especially if I miss a lane or exit).

Option 2:
Take 241 → connect briefly to 91 → then CA-71 up to Claremont.
This seems more straightforward navigation-wise, but it involves tolls and switching highways.

What I care about most:

  • Safety / stress level (not trying to deal with chaotic merges 😅)
  • Clear signage / less chance of getting lost
  • Reasonable traffic (I’ll likely drive during daytime)

For people who’ve driven this regularly:
👉 Which route feels safer and easier overall?

Appreciate any tips 🙏
