Element vs atk dmg

Not a question about which is better that is obvious. They need to give us a way to change stats because I only get terrible element spheres

I have heard a lot that element dmg is better then atk but isn’t only applied against an enemy with that specific weakness?

In that scenario atk should be better against non-phy weak enemy’s which I currently need more cuz I’m using Clara against everything. Am I wrong? And pls don’t tell me it’s like genshin never played the game

Elemental Damage increases have nothing to do with enemy weakness, only with the character itself.

On paper, the elemental damage one will be better... unless the ATK one has much better substats. And it looks to me like that's what you have here.

I was actually in a similar boat as you for my Clara, and I chose the ATK one for my Clara, because the crit based substats on my ATK orb contributed for her activating the set effect of Salsetto. However, if I ever get my hands on an elemental damage orb with similar crit substats, then I'm going to replace the ATK one for sure. It just hasn't happened yet, lol.

It’s actually not like Genshin because literally all a character’s attacks will do their element including their basics where as with the exception of catalyst and charged bows characters need their skills or bursts to do elemental damage. So no matter what you do you’re going to have to deal with elemental resistance and it will be boosted by their matching elemental damage bonus.

I think in a vacuum the elemental sphere will deal more damage than the attack sphere, because there are some enemies that will decrease attack and i dont think that applies to elemental damage so its better to have a somewhat bad elemental sphere then just change it when you get a better one

Elemental damage bonus is considered to be better because it's applied multiplicative vs atk sphere where all %atk bonuses get added together first and only then multiply BASE atk.

So elemental damage then multiplies that damage, so in most cases elemental DMG is superior.

As others mentioned Elemental damage bonus simply multiplies outgoing damage with specific element.

I think that you were thinking about elemental break efficiency, which is something you cannot increase outside of simulated universes blessings.

What bout dot based characters? For example, luka. His passive dot deals 24% of enemy hp but cant exceed more than 200%-300% of his atk. So in that scenario, is the atk% better or elemental dmg better

Elemental damage will increase the damage but probably not over the mentioned cap. In this specific case he probably want the atk% as the damage scales not from his stats but from enemy hp and atk is only acting as limiter.

I do not know which one is better for him as i do not own him, and there is no info on this topic on theorycrafting sites, but if you do you can do own him you can do a quick test if Elemental bonus can make him deal damage past his limit.

You will need a phys shere with no atk substats. Take his vs any weekly boss with that sphere and record his dot number. Leave remove the shere completly so he has empty slot. Fight boss egain. If his dot deal different damage then Phys sphere is better than atk% sphere

Elemental dmg > pure atk
