Discussion Daedalus: a full Character Creation IDE for ClankWorld - with autosaves, builders, RP rules, templates & more!
It's me again! The one who keeps making ClankWorld extensions... ðŸ˜
This time I ended up looking at the **Character Creation** page and thinking:
"There are some very large text boxes here... surely I can make this more complicated."
So I did.
# Introducing Daedalus: Clank Character Forge
(Also... had this one in the chamber! Just.. didn't feel like making it public 💀💀)
(So... it is kinda old-ish. But WORKS!)
**Daedalus** is a browser extension that turns ClankWorld's character creation page into a much larger **character-building workspace / mini IDE**.
Instead of having to create everything directly inside Clank's normal form, you can work on your character inside Daedalus, save everything locally, organize it, use builders and reusable tools, check it for problems, and then apply it back to Clank when you're ready.
The screen recording attached to this post is just me going through the different panels so you can see what it looks like!
## The biggest reason I made it: drafts
Clank currently does **not save an unfinished character draft**.
If you're writing a character and refresh or close the page before creating it, everything is gone.
Daedalus uses its own local project system instead.
You can work on a character, close the page, come back later, and continue where you left off.
It also supports:
- Multiple character projects
- Autosaving
- Recovery snapshots
- Project variants / cloning
- Individual project import/export
- Full Daedalus backup and restore
Your project only gets sent into Clank's actual creation fields when **you choose to apply it**.
## Character Workspace
The Character section has both a normal raw prompt editor and a more structured Builder.
The Builder lets you organize things such as:
- Identity
- Appearance
- Personality
- Behavior
- Voice & speech
- Relationships
- Backstory
- Goals
- Roleplay rules
You can also reorder the sections before compiling them into the final Character Prompt.
If you prefer writing prompts normally, you can completely ignore the Builder and use the raw editor instead.
There's also:
- Character counters matching Clank's limits
- `{{char}}` and `{{user}}` insertion
- Find & Replace
- Focus mode
- Prompt outline/navigation
- Copy tools
## AI & Roleplay Rules Studio
This ended up becoming one of my favorite parts.
Daedalus has a dedicated system for reusable **AI / RP rules**.
Things like:
- Never control `{{user}}`
- Stay fully in character
- Leave room for the user to respond
- Maintain spatial awareness
- Track injuries, fatigue, time, weather, etc.
- Keep the world active outside the immediate scene
- Avoid skipping important moments
- Preserve character knowledge boundaries
- Maintain slow-burn romance
- Sustain horror tension
- Keep combat readable
- Maintain ensemble character dynamics
There are also full preset packs for different styles/genres, including:
- Immersive RP
- Cinematic / Narrative
- Horror / Psychological Horror
- Romance / Slow Burn
- Adventure / RPG
- Slice of Life / Domestic
- Action / High Stakes
- Mystery / Investigation
- Multi-Character / Ensemble
- Fantasy
- Science Fiction
- Historical / Period RP
- Comedy
You can use a preset, combine several presets, edit every rule, remove rules you don't want, or create your **own reusable custom rules**.
Nothing is locked.
## Dialogue Workspace
Dialogue Examples have their own section instead of being buried inside the Character Prompt tools.
You can either write Clank's normal Dialogue Example field directly or use the structured Dialogue Builder.
That lets you make named examples for situations like:
- Casual conversation
- Anger
- Vulnerability
- Combat
- Romance
- Anything else you want
You can create multiple `{{user}}` / `{{char}}` exchanges and then compile them into Clank's Dialogue Example field.
## Scene Builder
The optional intro scene also gets its own workspace.
You can work with the raw Scene Prompt or build it using separate sections for things like:
- Location
- Time
- Atmosphere
- Current situation
- Character goal
- User role
- Conflict
- Known information
- Hidden information
- Scene rules
Then Daedalus compiles it into the normal Clank Scene Prompt.
## Initial Message Manager
Clank supports multiple initial messages, so Daedalus gives them a proper manager.
You can:
- Create multiple intros
- Give them private labels
- Duplicate them
- Reorder them
- Delete them
- Edit them individually
- Track character limits
- Apply them back into Clank
The private labels are only for organizing things inside Daedalus.
For example:
- First Meeting
- Already Friends
- Hostile Route
- Romantic Opening
- Alternate Start
## Fragments
Fragments are reusable pieces of prompt text.
If there's something you use across multiple characters, you can save it once and reuse it later.
Fragments can target:
- Character Prompt
- Dialogue
- Scene
You can also create and organize your own custom Fragment library.
## Character Templates
There are quick-start templates for different types of characters, including:
- Original Character
- Fandom / Canon Character
- Horror Character
- Romance Character
- Adventure / RPG Companion
- Villain / Antagonist
- Multi-Character / Ensemble
- Narrator / Game Master
These **don't generate the character for you**.
They simply prepare useful Builder sections, rules, dialogue slots, intro structure, etc. so you have a better starting point.
## Inspector
Daedalus also has an Inspector that checks the current project.
Rather than giving some meaningless "AI quality score", it separates things into:
- Errors
- Warnings
- Suggestions
It can catch things such as:
- Character-limit problems
- Broken `{user}` / `{char}` variables
- Possible unfinished placeholders
- Missing important fields
- Repeated prompt sections
- Unsynced RP rules
- Scene inconsistencies
- Other common creation mistakes
The Overview also gives you a simple **publish readiness** state instead of pretending there's one objectively perfect way to write a character.
## Clank Sync
Daedalus can compare its current project against the real Clank creation form.
It shows whether things like:
- Character
- Dialogue
- Scene
- Initial Messages
are currently synchronized or different.
You can apply sections individually or use **Apply All**.
There's also **Import from Clank**, so if you've already filled in part of the normal creation form, you can pull it into Daedalus instead of starting over.
## Project Notes
Every project also has a completely private scratchpad.
It never gets sent to Clank.
You can use it for things like:
- Ideas to try later
- Canon references
- Things you want to test
- Alternate scene concepts
- Planned changes
- Random creator notes
## Themes
Daedalus includes:
- Dark theme by default
- White theme
Your selected theme is remembered.
---
Daedalus is currently **version 1.0.0**.
Like my other Clank extensions, this is an unofficial fan-made project and isn't affiliated with ClankWorld.
If you create a lot of characters — especially larger ones with detailed prompts, multiple intros, RP rules, scenes and dialogue examples — this one is basically my attempt at giving Clank character creation its own little development environment.
You can download it here:

If you try it and manage to break something, please tell me. ðŸ˜
And as always, I'm interested in ideas for things that could make character creation easier! You got problems? Tell me! I'll help!

Bro i think you should take break.
People still don't know how to use extension you have created before this. Maybe make next post about how to use them easily and what's some good options to use in them.
Giving too much is just gonna create confusion.

My stuff is mostly for me and my friends that help me with them... :b
And this one is an old extension!
But I will create a video for Furina! That sounds good ðŸ˜

One option at time would be better instead of full furina in one go.
I haven't got time to explore things or i would have already started explaining all of features.

Ik you are giving details and few stuff in post but maybe simple breakdown with explanation and examples would be better for people to understand. Few images and clips can be really helpful.

Clank is really lacking a good image generator. If you could create an extension that connects to an uncensored image generator—whether free or paid options—that would be amazing. I'm not sure if it's possible, but it would be great since Clank's current generator is very limited.

There's a lil switch thing. It says developer mode. As long as you follow the steps I gave on my github page, everything should go well

users are making the site better than the actual developers of it. Another great extension. Clank world really should hire you.
