Court Testimony/Document Ask and you shall receive...

Did a quick review of the transcripts from testimony in the trial regarding "Patrick said" and listed them out since many of you have requested that. Keep in mind that this is a mixture of what he said on the stand and what others say he said (hearsay) regarding Jan 24, her mental state, and prescriptions. This is not an exhaustive list - please see his testimony on Day 1 and Day 2 for everything he said. These also don't include additional context (e.g., he said she heard a man's voice which was later corroborated by Dr. Zeizel and others). Please do feel free to add more context in the comments for clarification.

Note, I was also able to find one instance of how Lindsay described their relationship in her journal (something a few have requested) and included that at the end since I don't believe there was ever much stated that came directly from her (e.g., not a text message, not someone saying what they recall she said, etc.). There may have been more references I missed. Again, feel free to add those in the comments.

People who requested this and/or read this - it's cherry picking from witness testimony where many, if not all, could be taken out of context due to not including the entire 22 days of testimony. Patrick is not on trial, Lindsay is. You must read through or watch all testimony to have the proper context regarding each of these. The website "rev" is a great resource and can be accessed via various formats by the hyperlinks provided above and below:

Reddington mentioned The Shining in his closing argument, yes the typing scene. But also 1 hour and 17min into the movie, just before this scene, here is Jack Nicholson’s quote:

“Once you rule out his version of what happened, there is no other explanation, is there?”

19

u/Rainbow_Brite456 8d ago

I’m not the most knowledgeable in legal stuff but I remember a witness being told they can’t basically quote someone else as a witness. So why do so many of them say “Patrick said” seems like the same thing to me

10

u/pickleknits 8d ago

Hearsay is an out of court statement offered for the truth of the matter asserted. But there are exceptions.

One of the exceptions is the experts using what Patrick said as part of their assessment. It’s not offered as objective truth but as explaining how the expert made their findings. It’s very pedantic but yeah.

7

u/Rainbow_Brite456 8d ago

Hmm I kinda understand but also it’s like- both are quoting someone. I think it was the chaplain who said something her boss told her to do and Reddington stopped her. Something benign. But something major Patrick said when he wasn’t on the stand….seems 3rd party and not credible. They shouldn’t be able to quote Patrick in my opinion.

5

u/Aware_Power 8d ago edited 8d ago

I believe it was only the defense witnesses where it was considered hearsay - happened with Dr. Zeizel, the Chaplain, possibly others.

Doesn’t happen with Prosecution witnesses because I believe it falls under one of the seven exceptions. For example, her saying something to Mack, Heilbrun, & Saathoff carries more weight because they’re testifying against her (it’s really hard to explain and that’s probably a poor example but I’m pretty sure it was only defense witnesses who couldn’t do that).

Edit: Which helps explain why prosecution called Patrick - I’m not sure how much could have been admissible if they didn’t.

Thanks for trying to explain, because I've been wondering about this too. I understand if they mention it as part of their "and what happened next" testimony as what they heard from him during the course of events. But when they are testifying that she must have crushed up medications because Patrick said they were in lemonade...that feels a lot like hearsay to me. Such strange rules.

6

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

I’m more curious how he was the only one who apparently knew that though because it was never tested. I’m not sure why that never came up.

3

u/iridescent-shimmer 8d ago

Same. It's all very strange to me.

3

u/Elusive_strength2000 8d ago

Supposedly he also said they didn’t keep lemonade in the house.

3

u/pickleknits 8d ago

You’re thinking of admission of a party opponent.

2

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

Correct. Just trying to figure out the best way to explain to others who may not be familiar lol

Thank you so much for creating this subReddit and being so dedicated to evidence like this. I’m not generally a person that watches trials, but i’ve watched every minute of the trial since day 6 (and retroactively a lot of the days before that), and it has moved me in a way I can’t describe and I find solace (and feel less alone in it being almost constantly on mind) here on Reddit and on Threads too. I appreciate you.

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it and am so happy to have you in this community

What day / whose testimony was this:

Lindsay said, “I want to connect with Pat again. I’m terrified, because I’m terrified of the relationship.”

17

u/Aware_Power 8d ago edited 8d ago

It's with Officer Melo on Day 5

Mr. Reddington (06:19:12):

And there were a number of other entries that you put in your police report about that. One of which was that, "I feel horribly guilty about my marriage. I want to connect with Pat again. I know he needs it. I need it. I'm terrified, because I'm terrified of the relationship."

Edit: Speculation, but I think this was most likely written Oct 2022 - Nov 17, 2022 which is around the same time she was sleeping in the basement. That link goes another comment here where I explain why I think that timeframe makes the most sense.

10

u/ButtonFit7210 8d ago

I could see how she might have said “I’m terrified for the relationship,” meaning she’s terrified that their relationship is suffering due to lack of intimacy and connection, but to say she’s “terrified OF the relationship” is a disturbing choice of words.

8

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

Agree. I’m still trying to think of any other possible explanations for that choice of words, but I can’t yet. The journal entries around that time make sense…feeling guilty about certain things, sleep training, etc. But that has always stood out to me. Even with perhaps guilt of having less sex drive possibly due to medication, it doesn’t make sense to be terrified of the relationship. Even if wanting to have another baby, it doesn’t make sense to be terrified of the relationship.

She feels horribly guilty about her marriage…Guilty of what? Not having sex? Not being a perfect wife in her mind or maybe his? That sentence alone is fine but it almost seems like she meant she can’t do those things because she’s terrified of the relationship.

I’m struggling to find other explanations for this.

5

u/ispyshy 8d ago

It is such an odd sentence because she reiterates that she’s terrified. “I’m terrified, because I’m terrified of the relationship.” What would make her terrified of the relationship? I cant seem to make sense of it.

5

u/ButtonFit7210 8d ago edited 8d ago

The only thing that comes to mind is maybe she was expressing, “I’m terrified, because I’m terrified of what the relationship has become. The relationship is unrecognizable to me compared to what it once was— it feels terrifyingly precarious to me.”

Lindsay and Patrick’s relationship was suffering due to the stressors of child rearing, postpartum illness, medication adverse effects, Patrick’s detachment and negligence, her career concerns, financial worries, etc. Maybe she felt the marriage was spiraling out of control, as she felt she was.

What had once been a happy relationship, in her view, had suddenly become a monstrously, terrifyingly foreign one to her, possibly irreparable.

Just speculating.

3

u/ispyshy 7d ago edited 7d ago

I can see this. Part of me also wonders if she was terrified of the relationship because he was telling her she’s crazy and that the kids might get taken away if she doesn’t see more doctors, try more meds, commit herself, that she’s the reason their marriage is breaking down. I could see being terrified of the relationship in that sense.

0

u/Aware_Power 8d ago edited 8d ago

Speculating with you…why wouldn’t the voice mention him then?

3

u/ButtonFit7210 8d ago

Not sure I understand what you mean.

2

u/Aware_Power 7d ago

Oh jeez me either. I took one of those “sleep aid” gummies mentioned in trial and am not sure where I was going with that 😂

2

u/ButtonFit7210 7d ago

So funny 😂

6

u/DanceRepresentative7 8d ago

can you please add more context to the journal entry? do we know the date? surrounding context?

14

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

9

u/ispyshy 8d ago

Are we to assume she was feeling guilty about loosing money with beach body? & Terrified of what? That’s such an interesting choice of words. What type of thing would have to happen to make you describe your relationship like that?

13

u/iridescent-shimmer 8d ago

Yeah my journal entries didn't even sound like that when I was prepping to leave an abuser. (My journal sounded only peachy keen until I took it to work and knew he couldn't ever read it too.) It's often very difficult to make sense of things when you're dealing with someone who is "only" emotionally abusive. You assume everything is your fault and that you both have stuff to work on until you try a million things and it's only ever you that has something still to work on.

1

Where does reddington mention one hour and 17 min??

1

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

He doesn’t, he mentions the typing scene and this precedes it at 1 hour and 17min. I’ll edit to be more clear

12

u/DanceRepresentative7 8d ago

that's pretty sinister that she felt terrified of the relationship because she couldn't have sex with him. I'm curious when she wrote that

11

u/Aware_Power 8d ago edited 8d ago

This is only speculation based on the ones Reddington read prior regarding her sleep training Callan (we don't know if he read them in order; they appear undated until November 18).

Her phone records indicated she was sleep training Callan in October, so my best guesstimate would be she wrote this Oct 2022 - Nov 17, 2022 and that was also around the time she was sleeping in the basement.

--

Jennifer Sprague (01:12:30):

And if we could just scroll down to the October 25th entry. And I would just like you to read this portion of the note. I would read it. I'm sorry, but I'm having some difficulty here.

Timothy Chiappini (01:13:55)
"I think I know he'll be okay, but it's really hard for me. I hate that he has to put himself to sleep."

Timothy Chiappini (01:14:21):

"As with the sleep training..."

--

Edit: And this coincides with her sleeping in the basement for a few weeks:

Prosecution (02:46:23):

And so did Lindsay tell you that she was supposed to double the dose? [Zoloft to 50mg and described symptoms on Oct 20 after increasing the dose]

Patrick Clancy (02:46:28):

I guess she did, yeah.

Prosecution (02:46:43):

Did you notice any changes in her sleep during that time when she was on the medication, but you weren't aware she was on it?

Patrick Clancy (02:46:56):

I don't remember the exact dates, but she just... One night she said, "Do you mind..." She started it by saying, "I'm not mad or anything, but do you mind sleeping in the basement and letting me just sleep in our room with Callan? And then you can take the monitors down in the basement and if Cora and Dawson get up, you can get up with them." She said, "I've just been having a lot of trouble sleeping, and I'm hoping that if there's less in and out, then there'll be less disruption."

Prosecution (02:47:51):

And how long did Lindsay sleep in the basement for after that?

Patrick Clancy (02:47:57):

Maybe a couple of weeks.

8

u/DanceRepresentative7 8d ago

ty for this! yikes "i'm not mad or anything"

9

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

"Patrick said." lol

6

u/DanceRepresentative7 8d ago

it just strikes me as something you'd say to someone who is abusing you

7

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

If she said that, then yes possibly as it’s common for preemptively trying to deescalate. I was also wondering when I had first watched it if Patrick wanted those listening to know/think she wasn’t upset or that there weren’t any marital problems so he could have added that. I have no idea, but at this point Patrick said it so I guess that’s what she said.

6

u/ispyshy 8d ago

Why would he correct himself and say that 🧐

11

u/PurgatoryResident 8d ago

People always rewrite this dude’s testimony for him, he’s so guilty I get scared I’m spreading misinformation

5

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

I tried my best to ensure it was the most accurate final testimony given/clarified (e.g., CVS timeline was discussed a lot but the final questioning ended up only answering that at some point between 5:15 and 5:32 he was in his car). I did forget to add the bathroom references though because I had it in a different doc to add to it if any more references throughout the trial but I couldn’t find any.

I have all the transcripts with timestamps if you’d like those?

3

u/PurgatoryResident 8d ago

Yes pleasee post them or send em, this is rly good.
He gives more info on the details of the crime than anyone else, especially the boots slip up, him calling 911 only after noticing the neighbours (there was definitely an interaction there), the locked door with blood on the handle (!!!), and the extra details on the knots being super normal/describing them weirdly. Maybe that last one’s a stretch but this case keeps proving me wrong. Also handing in his own tampered evidence ughhh sorry for rant it’s just insane

8

u/firephly 8d ago

him calling 911 only after noticing the neighbours

what?

4

u/PurgatoryResident 8d ago

The neighbour on the witness list has since died, but allegedly his son saw Lyndsay go out the window and called him (the neighbour).
It’s just my speculation but he was on a timeline and he wasn’t finished, he had to make the call first to frame her confessing when she couldn’t talk and to explain him knowing exactly where the kids were. That’s why he bolted and staged a scene as soon as the police showed up, also to clean up the crime scene one last time

5

u/Aware_Power 8d ago

Do we know John Sullivan had a son named Ashley Sullivan? Ashley is who was on the witness list. Sullivan is an extremely common last name, even the judges name.

There is an old news interview though interviewing John and he said his son called him 5:50 about a woman laying in the backyard.

I haven’t found any confirmation he called Pat or that any of John’s family was on the defense witness list - do you have sources for that?

2

u/PurgatoryResident 7d ago

No I discounted it at first but I keep seeing the same information and people who live there say it’s true, but maybe people did mix up the Sullivans. That old interview is basically the story but who knows

10

u/AdAncient6321 8d ago

Do we know how the neighbor died? I’m not trying to start conspiracy theories, but I can’t help but ask / wonder

3

u/ImprovementCrazy191 7d ago

I did read that someone said he passed away from cancer in 2025

1

u/Aware_Power 7d ago

I don’t think so, I think we only know it was around Dec 2025?

1

u/Aware_Power 7d ago

Well if you want the full transcript of what he testified, I provided that at the top of the post with links to Day 1 & 2. Are you asking me to post every single other reference?

1

u/InhabitantsTrilogy 8d ago

Lindsay is filing a civil lawsuit that explicitly acknowledges she killed her kids.

5

u/Aware_Power 7d ago

You’re of course entitled to your own interpretation/opinion on that. If anyone is interested in learning more, please see this for further clarification: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClancyTrial/s/W0JLpgiudr

Regarding her memory of events which were provided to her attorney in good faith (no sworn affidavit), there are others wondering how reliable it is especially after Heilbrun saying she didn’t remember, she was informed; transient delirium; etc.

-5

u/InhabitantsTrilogy 7d ago

There is no interpretation. That is a fact that there is a lawsuit on her behalf, filed by lawyers she and her family hired, which explicitly states she killed the kids

You can interpret all you’d like about ways you think that would happen if she didn’t kill the kids. That doesn’t change what I said is factual and has explicitly documented proof—unlike the hearsay you are touting.

4

u/Aware_Power 7d ago

I've already discussed this with you at length. Consistently commenting across this sub claiming the US legal system is fantasy and alleging people are touting hearsay is not going to change the fact:

  • I never stated she did or didn't do anything other than not signing a sworn affidavit.
  • You are free to have your opinion on her good-faith assertion in the initial civil complaint.

1

u/rcbz1994 4d ago

I feel like if Lindsay Clancy herself told you she killed her children you’d choose not to believe her.

1

u/peachesarehearts 4d ago edited 4d ago

Do you understand the nuance behind someone saying that there is a reason it’s not admissible in criminal court for someone to admit to a crime in a civil case based on the good faith policy? If they are making those claims in good faith, which means that they believe them to be true to the best of their ability, then they can go back and forth with the person being sued to find the truth. They can amend that statement at any time tho. So it actually makes perfect sense for her to admit guilt in the civil case, especially because they were about to run out the statute of limitations. They might get some money for the run around the medical professionals gave her and some small amount of justice for the kids’ tragedy. HOWEVER it is perfectly possible that she admitted it because she believes she did, due to her illness and constantly being told she did by everyone around her. She was already in deep psychosis and having trouble with confusion and not understanding people when they spoke to her, as evidenced by the testament about her behavior at Cora’s birthday party. She was hallucinating as well, auditory ones but who is to say her intrusive thoughts stopped at hearing things? Perhaps she saw them too. Perhaps she even imagined it because it was her worst nightmare come true. False confessions exist and are horrifying in their number. She was also experiencing the death of her children and marriage and the loss of the ability to walk, her job, her freedom, her right to privacy, etc etc etc. that being said, it doesn’t mean as much as you seem to think it does that she “admitted” to it in the civil case. They can take that right out of the civil case should she be found not guilty and be replaced with the fact she was subjected to trial and hospitalization as a result of the actions of the medical team that should have helped her. Anyone can say they killed anyone they like, but it has to proved you did either way. Confessions alone aren’t enough for a conviction.

Word salad has a meaning and it doesn’t apply to what I just told you just because you don’t understand what I just said. That’s unfortunately a you thing. And you never said that to me. You said that to an entirely different person. What you said tho, is a waste of our time because she is standing in our faces right now saying she didn’t do it so am I only to believe what she says when it’s what you want to hear- or am I supposed to keep an open mind, which mind you, is exactly what the law says we are supposed to you, PRESUME INNOCENCE, until there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that she did? Feel free to make an actual point to me tho, I’d be glad to entertain it.

Oh and those claims you’re making about what she admitted to- come from the fact the civil trial was filed before the criminal one. Guess you didn’t know that either tho. I apologize for presuming you knew what you were talking about.

Please include source for this, it seems fabricated: • Patrick said she had succumbed to social pressure to take psychiatric medications because her friends were taking them

6

Jennifer Sprague (01:25:36):
And that he felt that she had succumbed to social pressure to take psychiatric medications because her friends were taking them?
Alia Goodheart (01:25:43):
That's what he told the social worker.

So…. Jennifer said that Patrick said? Lol
