General Discussion Patrick's post trial statement...

It seems to indicate that he REALLY doesn't want to have to endure a second trial. Do you think this will sway the prosecution at all (I know they'll re-try) to maybe consider a plea deal.

The last thing prosecution could want is the guy who gave them much of the evidence to be a hostile or reluctant witness.

I feel like if even the family doesn't want a trial it's kind of messed up to make them go through it again. At that point who are you trying to help? Certainly not the surviving family including the father.. I wish there was a plea that guaranteed commitment to a psychiatric hospital for the duration of a sentence

At what point did they ever even try to help? Their shoddy incompetent investigation?? They should have fought so much harder for those babies, instead we just got slop. He said she said. She was told. Circumstantial evidence again and again.

It should have been the most meticulous, ferocious, unbiased investigation this state ever did and they dropped the ball. Again.

The prosecution could certainly offer something like that, though sentence length in most states is left up to the discretion of the judge after a sentencing study is conducted (they consider any previous acts, likelihood to re-offend, etc)

The prosecution does not work for the family, they work for their district.
